GTI+ misfire

Post by silver38 »

Had my 2020 GTI recovered to the dealer last week for a bad misfire. I have an all in service plan so wasn't expecting a call to say fault diagnosed as cylinder 2 and 3 coil packs and plugs but not covered by warranty as they are corroded and would be £435 to sort out. Anyone heard of a claim being turned down for this?

Thanks

The All In warranty isn’t as generous as VW’s original new car factory warranty so it will have a range of exclusions similar to other aftermarket vehicle warranties. I’d not read on this forum - or any other forum - of anyone having an All In warranty claim denied where the cause of the fault / failure is due to corrosion. However, the first exclusion in the ‘Warranty Exclusions’ section of the All In Terms and Conditions does exclude failure due to corrosion - exclusion reproduced below;

Warranty exclusions
This cover does not cover any injury, failure, loss or damage caused by, arising from or in connection with the following:
1. Corrosion, frost, salt, hail, windstorms, lightning, airborne fallout, (e.g. chemicals, tree sap, bird droppings, etc.), water submersion, water immersion or flooding.

Warranty Exclusions can be found on the sixth page of the T&C’s (helpfully, VW decided not to add page numbers to the pages!) and link to the full All In T&C’s below;
