HELP! My first problem! Looks like somethings snapped.

Hello!

Well I'm not sure what it is but it looks like some belt has snapped somewhere.

I havn't noticed any problems with the car but was just poking around while routing the power for my amp.

Here a picture. Anyone know what it is and how urgent it is that I get fixed. Like I said, there no running problems on the car, this must have happened before or during my drive to inters...

Come to think of it, The journey back took a lot more fuel. But then I had bought heaps of stuff including a set of alloys...

Sorry about the size of them but thought you might need the detail.
It actually looks like there might be something missing too, where I've circled on the second picture??? or is it meant to be like that?

Any idea's. Doesn't look good, but does look fixable!

well in the first pic it looks like a v belt but in the second pic it looks like theres a belt round each pully so it should be good so i shouldnt worry

Well it was nothing to bad in the end.
The fan belt had split and the bit you can see in the pic got caught up in it all.

Phone VW assistance and they came out 20 mins later!
5 mins after that and a new fan belt. All sorted.

Must be the best time yet. Last time I had a faulty ignition switch on my MK5 and they came out in 40mins, so they seem pretty good, as long as they have the parts. Better than taking it to a dealer anyhow.
