K&N Panel Filter

Post by Si_GTi »

Couple of questions:

I've been quoted £59.99 for a K&N panel filter from Motormania just down the road. I know I can get it cheaper at Demon Tweeks in Wrexham but the cost of the fuel and mileage on the car would bring the overall cost back up to about the same cost overall. So is this OK value?

Secondly, I know its no BMC, but will I notice much of a difference?

Cheers :)

They are expensive, but have a lifetime guarantee (whatever that means!). The air flow through them is much more efficient and therefore the air to petrol mix is better and torque appears better - you don't get the lag from when the car has to suck the air through the old standard filter.

You can get one on eBay for £32.00 + postage if you search for Polo filters K&N etc.

I thought the BMC only came as a cone filter induction kit jobbie? I can't quite stretch to the cost of a BMC, which is why I'm investigating the K&N panel filter, which is a straight swap for the factory-fitted airbox filter :) nice and stealth...

Nope the BMC comes as a panel filter too. (although some are coned your right)

http://www.bmcairfilters.com/VisModel.asp

Put in your car details and you will end up with a list of all the non CDA air filters they do.

Hope this helps, to be honest id have a BMC panel filter over K&N just because ive always (and most ppl alike) have thought K&N suck.

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ - follow the link and go into the online shop. The K&N filters are all about £32.00 standard from spares dealers.
