Mats

Post by ttaw2 »

Does anyone know where I can get some new GTi mats? The previous owner of my car must've worn heels all the time as the mats are pristene bar a small chunk where there's nothing left, i've put up with it for a year, but got in the car this morning and ripped it wiith my shoe. I'm loathed to go to main dealer, as i don't want to bend over for the price, and they'll want to sell me four, whereas I need two max

Cheers - i'll look into that. Although this has reminded me, does everyone have black mats, as mine are grey to match the carpet and seats..?

Er, mine are grey in the front, and black with red ribbing in the back?(i 'reckon the dealer must have put new ones in the front to make it look better). I think the grey looks good in the front though. Are everyones blank though or do they have some graphics (i'm not talking anything too chav though!!) - my front one has worn out too, i fancy some new ones....

Just phoned main dealer, they only have black ones on their system, and my car isn't on their records as it's an import.. Hopefully it'll be on soon as they're trying to sort me out my recall - it all depends on if the dealer that sold my car in europe did the full delivery inspection and stamped the logbook... but that's a story for another day.

Does anyone actually have black mats?

Oh, and I haven't got any markings on mine, just dark grey with red trim and previously mentioned big hole!

Talking of chav - i feeel strangely tempted to get some stainless sill protectors - don't know if they'll look a biot cheesy though.

I've got grey mats with red piping all round, front and back footwells. No problems with wear and tear so far! I have rubber front mats for the Winter months, they're in at the moment. No rubber rear mats as I don't have more than 1 passenger (hi Mum) all too often :)

Mine are the ones that they gave me when I bought the car so they are looking new(ish!). They are black and on the drivers front there is a embossed VW logo on the bottom right, quite a nice touch, was expacting something lairy!

I think the original ones that came wth the car new had red piping, not sure about the colour though. You could always try VAG parts below, I'm sure they could do a good price.

i think mine are black with red trim, without any logos or anything, the drivers side one is a bit worn and I haven't even been wearing heels!

mmm pretty mats - all I need to do is decide if i'm going to have anything on them... I was thinking a fully red small GTi, or a small VW symbol on them? Anybody got any original ideas?

Yeah, I was contemplating that too - I've just done a quote for "Polo GTi" with a red I... But in nice small letters so it doesn't stand out too much, with the P and GT slightly bigger.. I'm just waiting for a reply on the cost

Just hope it won't look too chav..

i'm sure all my mats front and back are black, each with red stitching on the edges. When I saw your front mats TonyB, I thought they were non vw ones, didn't realise most people has them like that!

It looks like the only mats you can get from vw are black/red if you belive main dealers :? - As I said before mine's an import so the interior is a bit odd - half normal polo, half GTi... Could it be that UK cars got Black and imports grey - or was it an option on the original spec?
