Decent Brake setup.

I've been thinking about upgrading the brakes on my G40 and reading about audi brakes and rear disc conversions.

They don't have to be amazing, but preferably cheap. I just feel fred flinstone could outbreak my G right now.

I'll have 14" alloys on in January (hopefully) so this should help.

Let me know if you get rid of your vented 239 setup then as fred flintstones grandma could outbrake my car!

i have 256mm brakes and they work alot better than the vented 239mm brakes.
but be carefull if you go for rear conversion as the polo are light and you will end up locking up all the time. i know it sounds good but you will have a accident if you drive like me

Make sure your rear brakes are in excellent order as this makes a huge difference to pedal travel. Renewing parts like rear cylinder and shoes will help. Adjust them up far so the handbrake is good.
I'm going for a set of raicam pads, brembo oe discs, pitstop braided hoses, motul rbf 600 brake fluid and renewed rear brakes.

This should be an excellent setup and I've heard off people it is.

Oh yeah, fogot to add that rear discs are not worth doing. They are a lot of hassle and are more for show.

lol, thats exactly my track setup at the moment.

Rear discs are worth doing but only for track cars, and you need an in car adjustable brake bias aswell. Set at full front, since the rear discs aint doing much on the rear but they are giving you better applied pressure to the fronts, since it takes less pressure to activate disc bakes than it do drums.

But as Dan says, Rear dics conv on a road cars in all show and no go since its ineffective. But rememebr about the brake bias is different if using discs rather than drums, not doing this can cause you to sntach the rears and lock them up easily, causing you to spin.

I agree, rear discs are not going to make you stop any quicker.

I've been using Willwood 4 pots on 256 discs upfront, with Mk2 gti rear discs for a year or so on my G. The only benefit you'll see apart from looks, is I've now got a decent handbrake instead of the soggy bit of elastic I had before
