Re: Is 35,000 miles too much for a 17 plate?

As already said, service history is important. If serviced by VW dealership then you can get a service history printout at any VW garage. If worn or new pads and discs it might have been driven hard. Should still have some warranty left. If at all worried could think about an extended warranty?

Re: Routing cable for bluetooth microphone to mirror

I just fitted a dashcam and used this route for the power cable. The route I used was beneath the dash to the drivers side, remove the triangular side panel and light switch to aid access and then route the cable up the A pillar. You can prise the A pillar trim back just enough to get the cable out ...

DSG recall 2008 to 2015?

Appears that there is an urgent recall of vehicles with DSG boxes from 2008 to 2015. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... fault.html

I presume the lights are halogen. Have you checked the bulbs? If so then next the fuse - fuse 39 I believe.

Re: Remapping, tuning boxes etc

This is I suppose feasible at a cost. Tuners will just try to replicate VW 'dieselgate' type software to fool the system!

Dash cam voltage shut down value?

Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but could not find anything after a few searches. Just installing a dash cam. It has a parking mode and a voltage shut down feature. The voltage shut down is currently set at 12.2v. Has anyone experience of a suitable shut down voltage? Don't want to run ...

Re: Engine rattle on start-up

Just a pity that VW Group were not honest enough to check all cars within that early engine build range either at point of sale or, early recall or the first time they appeared for workshop servicing, this could have been caught before things went bad - but time and again VW Group has proved that i...

Re: Special customers only event

Only had a genuine offer once a long time ago for a ford escort - got it at cost and the dealer showed me the price he had to pay ford - the dealer needed to make one more sale to meet the quarterly target. Most are not good offers and can be beaten by others.

Re: Musty smell from air vents (not AC) 6R POLO

A quick temporary fix is to run the AC with the temperature set to max and car fully warmed up for about 10 mins. This will dry the system out and get rid of some of the smells.

Re: Whining noise thinking it is my turbo help?

Hum, good luck with your upgrade stage 1 not being detected, I think that any power train issues being resolved with a warranty would start for checking for evidence of a non factory engine ECU software, in VW Group world, I think a flag gets set which can be detected and logged with VW Group mothe...

Re: keys/locks/ignition/ecu enquiry

Do not know the story behind the 'no keys' but if lost by the previous owner beware that they might re-appear and your car disappear! Keeping it safe will require a security device or disabling the car in some way. The alternative to the dealer is: https://www.locksmiths.co.uk/faq/5-ways-replacement...

Re: U0416 Fault Code - Invalid data received - vehicle dynamics control module

Not able to add anything about the fault but according to Honest John there should be no charge for a software update for a car under 6 years old as it comes under a 'high cost high value item' that should last at least 6 years. Think you might have to fight it though.

Re: Jacking points?

I use wooden blocks with grooves and fit a piece of industrial carpet into the slot to protect the paint etc. Never had a block split - always cut the groove across the grain and use a 5 cm minimum thick block.
