Re: I'm off guys

Speaking for myself, I go on-line & joined forums on a variety of subjects for interest & info. I don't get into spats as life is too short for such things, it's mostly just about opinion & everyone is 'correct'. Was wondering about EV heaters; what wattage would they be, how would they ...

Re: GTi+ Fogging

I had a Mk5 Golf, 3 Golf Mk7's, a Seat Leon (a Golf under diffrerent clothes) and now a Golf Mk8 and ALL 'featured' being slow to demist'. Play with heater, demist and air-con settings to one's heart's comtent, all cars still took / take their own sweet time to 'defog', say 2 - 3 miles, in order to ...

Re: 2018 onwards GTI any attempt theft issues?

"Agree. I am fortunate enough to live in a low crime area but I garage my car when it’s not being used. I’m one of the few - if not only - people on my road who bothers to put their car in the garage." Tell me about it; I live on the outskirts of a city, my dad lives in a wee small villag...

Re: 2018 onwards GTI any attempt theft issues?

RE: thefts (grrr !) years ago I / family found out ; 'the hard way' that parents contents insurance didn't extend to out shed, my moto-x bike (Kawi KX125) and all my gear, tools, etc was stolen, less one glove, it was one very serious oversight. I'd saved like mad to buy it in the first place, then ...

So sorry for the OP re: car issues. Re:the police, you almost never know, sometimes some people just keep being pulled over 'just because', others seemingly never at all....

Re: Heavy water soaked carpets

Was gonna suggest sitting in the car and having someone pour water over it to identify cause of leak, hopefully it will now get sorted. Should stress the need for car mats to be 100% dry (well, duh) if even slightly wet they can stink up to the sky like you wouldn't believe....

Re: Brand new Polo, Steering is offset

This ^^. If, as I suspect, the tracking is out, it won't go away by itself. Unless the car is smacked against a kerb at j-u-s-t the right angle, which a mate did by accident once. Obv don't any try that....

Re: Brand new Polo, Steering is offset

At the risk of being obtuse, sounds to me like the tracking adjustment could be out of whack, unless there is a steering-related issue with Polos. Without standing up for VW, think it states somewhere (words to the effect) that "VW are not responsible for tracking alignment or adjustment",...

Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Colleague has a test drive IONIQ5 Wow... :!: 8) I'm consoling myself with the fact it's way too big for my needs (it's HUGE) and £200 more than than the Leaf a month. But cannot deny it's the nicest EV I've never seen in the flesh. I also don't think I'd be able to resist making it look lik...

Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Mentioned the EV discussion to a colleague and he reminded me both (old) Top Gear & 5th Gear tested EVs. TG were pretty light hearted, Clarkson & May knocking on doors "can we have some electricty please ?", 5th Gear apparently took the subject more seriously, but one of the progra...

Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Should point out I work with, as opposed to 'in', I.T. / electroncs, I mostly got out of that field a time ago. Stealling cabe from bungalows is 'small beer' in some parts, I was informed by the groundsman that a footie match was cancelled due to 'floodlight failure'; he wasn't wrong the cable was l...

Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Hear what you are saying and the situation I mentioned WAS 20 years ago, many R/C fans had high capacity / high power / quick charge cells, the ones my brother used were 'standard' for R/ C vehicles, not 'race cells'. The R /C car club is still in existence, btw and still mostly use gasoline cars (f...

Re: GTi gone (woohoo!)

Finally - people speaking about EVs for what there are: phenominally powerful but undeveloped, expensive & heavy vehicles that are slow to refuel (rechardge), the fuel cell will deteriorate raipdly in time with normal use and be expensive to replace. I find the almost lemming-like celebration of...

Re: Extended warranty - Has anyone taken one out? Is it a good thing to have?

I'm very much a 'piece of mind person', an extra years warranty on a Golf was £250 and worth it IMO as one component issue would cover the payment, also the 'all-in' warranty / service package is very good value IMO. Interestingly, local radio ads have broadcast (words to the effect) : "have yo...

Re: Android Auto Vs Tech Edition infotainment

It was few years ago, don't recall the exact details but his fone satnav gave up on the outskirts of the airport and all his data allowance was gone. I don't trust much modern tech nor have the patience to fight with such things for hours on end, with many similar devices the instructions are worse ...
