You very much answered your own question it is relay it have clicking noise I would say you never noticed before or maybe yours is faulty. You could try to replace it.

well ... then you can take out every fuse and check it out in front of the light or by continuity tester. Honestly it is not a rocket science and I would rather spend 30 minutes pulling fuses then month without working washer pump ...

EA888 (and few others) are very prone to water pump/thermostat leak. I am personally dealing with one, right now. :D 6 years and 80K km. Not cheap repair that is for sure.

What a wonderful and clever design, lets just make plastic housing, put it right on hot engine and torque the bolts to 9Nm ...

Well on continues wiping it should click once you switch them on and once you turn them off

Yes it is normal, there is relay switching power to wiper motor. I am pretty sure it should do it on every speed not just auto.

Iam pretty sure that cover is plastic not metal What makes me more interesting are the vents all around, my MY2019 don't have such vents. I guess the amp got hot a bit more then expected
