Just to add to my previous message. I didn’t use modified incandescent lights as described in the article. I used led light units and wiring readily available at low cost from AliExpress.

Re: Retrofitting OEM footwell lights
I added footwell lights to my wife’s 6C Blue GT using an excellent online guide from BHP. This described two methods, one using a link to the BCM, or an easier method using a connection to the dome light. I used the dome light connection. Easy enough to do, and didn’t involve any modifications the o...

Re: MOT fail on wing mirror indicator
You don’t need to replace the whole mirror assembly, just the part with the integral led strip. Plenty on sale on eBay for around £15, e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364652413391?gad_source=1&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338723872&toolid=20006&customid=F-o...

Re: Key Batt Message
The old battery in my fob was Panasonic CR2025 (2.5 mm thick). I had a new CR2032 to hand and tried that, but at 3.2 mm thick it was really too thick to fit properly. Bought a Panasonic CR2025 and everything was sweetness and light again. This was 2 years ago, and still going strong.

Re: Key Fob Question - Urgent
I replaced the key case on my wife’s Blue GT when the original was damaged. Replacement key fob shells are readily available on eBay for around £6. Mine came with a new blank key, so I discarded this and fitted the key from the old fob. I dismantled the old fob and transferred the small pcb from thi...

Re: Weird electrical problem?
I can recommend the smart chargers sold by Liberty Batteries. Quite sophisticated - 5 stage charging regime etc - but very simple to use, and surprisingly inexpensive compared to the likes of CTEK. I use mine regularly on my very lightly used cars, and the original batteries are still going strong o...

Re: Gearboxes, gear oil, and levels
I have been following this thread with some interest, and something which seems clear is that the full VW specification for their gear oil is not available. This being the case it is hard to see how the various alternative suppliers can truly claim to have products which match the VW spec. They may ...

Re: Refilling coolant system with vacuum kit
2226/Le_Combattant/RUM4MO Thank you all for the very helpful advice. I have two cars with the 1.4tsi engine which both need coolant changes in the near future, so I will get the vacuum filling kit since it’s easy to justify the cost and it should minimise any problems. I may also get a pressure test...

Refilling coolant system with vacuum kit
The G13 coolant in my wife’s 1.4tsi Blue GT is 7 years old now, and the pH is down to 7, so I want to replace it. I will be using G12 evo. I have never done a coolant change on the EA211 engine before, and I’ve read that it can be troublesome due air locks etc. For this reason I am tempted to try on...

Re: Coding for LED number plate lights?
Thanks Ciclo
The DV52 link gives a really good explanation of light channels. However I’m now confused over which is the relevant channel for the licence plate light on my car. Your diagram says HA60, but table 5C in the DV52 link says HA6 for the 6C. Which is correct?
Thanks

Coding for LED number plate lights?
I will be fitting genuine VAG led number plate lights to my wife’s Blue GT 6C, and I would like to avoid fitting ballast resistors (to prevent bulb failure messages). Does anyone know if it is possible to re-code the BCM using VCDS to tell it that led lights are installed, or if not, to turn off bul...

Hi Ciclo
Many thanks for making the Erwin files available.
I have just downloaded all 109 files, and it only took about 5 minutes. Fantastic resource.
Thanks again
