Thanks Alex for the help, from what I can tell Varta look to not be too expensive, Bosch seem to be readily available and also around my price range.
One thing they both seem to state, is that there product guarantees that it will either 'meet' or 'exceed' the original OEM part specifications ...

Thinking of new battery, is Varta used by VAG for Polo's?
Hello Members, my 2001 Polo 1.4 auto has now had a new 'alternator' and 'starter motor' due to failure, the original VW battery is still in the car so I thought I should maybe consider changing this, I was thinking of using a 'Varta' as they, like so many which are made by the 'Johnson Controls ...

Re: Changing 'Starter Motor', members tips & advice please..
Thanks once again for all the help.
I just wanted to close the thread by giving some layman's advice, this is after I'd done job successfully, so I hope it helps someone else.
It was daunting to me, to have to do the job from underneath the car while it's on axle stands, so after a lot of ...

Re: Changing 'Starter Motor', members tips & advice please..
Thanks Alex, that's great news, I was worried that I'd have to start dismantling everything above the starter motor, also screwing up the ECU was a big concern knowing I'd have to disconnect the battery.

Changing 'Starter Motor', members tips & advice please..
Hello Members
I have a 2001 VW Polo 1390 cc petrol auto, the 'Starter Motor's' making that grinding spin just after ignition so I like to replace it, rather than re-greasing and servicing it.
The Haynes manual virtually states, that in order to change the part it's best to remove the 'inlet ...

Hello members, just to let you know, it did turn out to be one side of the coil pack.
What happend was i'd eventually broke down (not quite, but the engine check light came on, and the engine was really hunting), and called the AA, he diagnosed the fault (which was already pointed out to me on the ...

Re: VAG reports multiple misfiring's error.......
Thanks for the help Bepe, i changed the leads a year and a half ago, including the plugs (all proper VAG parts, not compatibles), but i've never changed the 'Coilpack', i'm guessing this is just a straight swap of removing the old one, and replacing with the new one, is there anything else to ...
