Re: The GTI! - Alex's Thread - Auto headlights and 16"s!

Didn't realise you still had this. Looking good on the 16's Alex, although it needs a colour coded splitter IMO.

Re: Si's GTi. Working on a new "winter look"...

You need some orange front indicators now as opposed to clear. It would bring the rear lights/side repeaters/fogs look all together. Really not a fan of the JDM lights but with the rest tied in they look ok......ish !

Jap spec. surely means you need a bean can exhaust and lexus lights though?

Re: Thinking of selling... unsure on asking price?

the Clio will end up just starting to rattle after a while

Yes, true (I can vouch for that), but you expect that being French and it doesn't detract from the fun. Not a lot beats it for 'out of the box' fun.

the Fabia...will handle better after it has been tickled with a few small modifications ...

Re: Thinking of selling... unsure on asking price?

its much MUCH better handling and involving than the Polo!

Nail on the head.

I average 37 mpg in my 182, and I drive about 50 miles a day. It really doesn't change that much whether you thrash it or drive like a granny.

To be honest I didn't notice much difference from the Gti, I think my ...

Re: Thinking of selling... unsure on asking price?

Good luck with the impending sale Si, I hope you achieve what you want to get for it.

I hope if you get a Fabia VRS it serves you just as well as the gti has. The Fabia VRS is a good solid car and quick enough, not quite as good in the corners though. I just get bored of the small powerband of the ...

Great photos Alun.

Shame you are going to be selling, but someone will get a fantastic looking car, my favourite gti I have seen.

the 197 as it looks great, the drive is meant to be superb and it's practical

If you have concerns about fuel consumption on a one hour commute, I would cross the 197 off your list !

The V6 is all about presence, looks & noise. It is only just quicker than the 182, but it doesn't handle as well ...

A decent set of pads e.g Ferodo DS2500 and a full bleed should sort things out Alex. Upgrading discs does very little (on a set up such as this)so I wouldn't bother with grooved or drilled etc.

From the pics/paperwork, it looks like it resides in Crawley, which unfortunately is reasonably close to me. I can't say I have ever seen it about though.

What is your insurance like with the IHI declared, reasonable?

Having experienced an IHI golf, I must say the acceleration is very impressive. Buying the car with the work done saves so much £.

Just be careful out there, please don't drive like a t**t on public roads.

They sound like they will be a great fit (same size/offset as the Rondells I had), and it could look good, it all depends on the colour.

Any idea of the weight of one alloy, be good to compare to the G60's that are coming off, and an ideal time to find out whilst they don't have tyres fitted.
