Just got back from my session at the Rolling Road at John Noble Motorsport in Chesterfield.
Results:
128.1bhp @ 6401rpm (103mph)
110.7 lbft @ 5641rpm

I'd be interested to hear from any other Polo GTi owners who have had their car on the rollers.

and this too:Volkswagen has promised a hot Polo for years, but it took the range-wide facelift last February to make it a reality. The revised range's stiffer structure, improved ride and handling and Lupo-style, tech-look cabin make a good base for a rapid Polo, and power - 125 bhp of it - comes from an iron-block, 1.6-litre version of the 1.4 16V engine used in some other Polos. Some discreet bodykit, BBS 15 in wheels with 195/45 tyres, a honeycomb front grille and xenon gas-discharge headlights set a sporty tone. Unlike the larger, more subtle Golf GTI, this is an old-school, upfront hot hatchback.
so we can now look at where the extra power comes in as there is 112lb ft on tap at 3300 so you can see that nopw you have 110.7lbft at 5641rpm, thus the torque has been raised by 2300 to make the car feel much more powerful at spirited driving ranges. With 125 bhp on offer, plus 112 lb ft of torque on tap at a low 3300 rpm thanks to variable inlet-valve timing, the Polo can reach 127 mph and touch 62 mph from a standstill in 8.7 seconds. The 16-valve engine sounds sportily rorty without being loud, and its drive-by-wire accelerator responds keenly. Somehow, though, the Polo doesn't feel quite as lively as the figures suggest, and you're aware of its considerable weight compared with, say, a Citroen Saxo VTS or a Peugeot 106 GTI.
