Glovebox light

Post by Scorpio1 »

Do ANY new Polos have a glovebox light? All the ones I have seen haven't, I will add one if not, but is this easy? There is like a blank, black plastic plate, but it is facing the front towards the seat?

I heard, that the one from the Golf 4 fits, but you'll have to get your cables there somehow (e.g. from the radio or curtesy light), the light itself shouldnt cost more than 10 pounds

Just wondered, does anyone have a picture of their glovebox? (empty) as I remember seeing a black blank kind of plastic bit at the top right hand comer of the glovey when it was open, is that the space for it?

If not I have a couple of ideas of lights that may fit.

I mean it wouldn't be hard to hook a bulb up, but the problem is, it needs a switch so it will turn off when it's shut, or it will just get too hot and the bulb will burn out too quickly!

I know it sounds silly, but it's so important at night and is one of those great things to have :!:

I just to have a VW BUG and add a light to the gloVe box.
I used a Door alarm clip for turning on or off the light

So when the door is closed the Clip is pressure and when you open it make contact and turn the light on

Is not that hard.

When I put mine I will show you. I really need it to.

Hi Scorpio

I think the blanking plate you're referring to, is the one if you don't have the switch for the passenger airbag? Have a look on P53 of the Controls and Equipment manual :)

I don't have that manual :(

But could be that, not sure if it would be easy to find a light to fit that shape though
