The bigger the engine the more performance you will get from an induction kit--- Fact!
the induction works as a cold-air intake for the engine, making the engine breath better as opposed to element filters.

I got an 57i induction kit when i first got the car and i really wanted to keep the air box as it made the engine look tidy, but i cudnt work out how to keep the air box and fit the k&n, so i got rid of it and now seeing these pics i want to put the air box back on and somehow fit the k&n but i aint got a bloomin clue

if you go to ripspeed/halfords they sell a replica/ripspeed version of the bmc. Its about £60 iirc, looks almost the same. As it has a direct air supply, it will pull in less hot air. I currently have a K&N on a 1.4. It sounds decent and gives you a sucking noise when the air is drawn in. Ive personally noticed that the engine is a bit more responsive, but dont expect to get a huge performance boost, there is a little more on high end speeds though.

yo mate
even the k&n induction kit gives a nice sucking noise, quite loud actually and sounds abit turbo-ish hehe, not sure what other makes of filters make this noice but i should imagine most cone and cylinder filters would do.

in my old mk4 1.0 8v i'd just topped up the oil and was revving it to get it worked around, i then noticed that when u totally floored it and let it off you had a very noticable sucking sound with the standard air box...lol

K&N makes the sucking sound after you change gear and tap the accelerator, mines loud TBH, it doesnt sound like a dump valve, but does sound rather nice 8)

Na the ripspeed one i aint sure, but its called a Ripspeed Carbon intake kit...its a universal jobbie, but i reckon the bmc is too.

cough*~#i might have my k&n for an mk4 for sale#~*cough

@ Daveo - pics of what mate? a k&n on a mk4?

A dump valve noise is much more deeper, if your looking to imitate one of these with a air filter then NO this wont do it. If u REALLY need this noise then i would suggest buying one of those speaker things that have the dump valve noise pre-recorded, which plays   you cant get a faker dump valve than this!

Depends if you're after sound, performance, or both.

The BMC is a good all rounder, as are Maxogen ITG kits. I had a Pipercross Viper on my Saxo, and wasn't impressed with the gains i saw for £250.
