what 40mm lowering kit?

If your original dampers are in good nick, then you could match them with Eibach Sportline springs as some others have done on the forum. This is the path I intend to take (unless I come into some money before then and buy coilies) and will match the springs to my existing OE dampers, as long as they are in good condition...

I don't actually know of a shocks and springs kit for the GTi, most go for springs alone or full-on coilovers! Try shopping around the usual suspects, R&A Design, Awesome, JBS, Tuningwerkes?

cheers for your help guys. not sure how much i can afford to spend, gmax do a kit for £220, mite be ok, cuz im not gona do track days or anyhtin, any body had any experience with theses springs?

i am selling my 50mm sportline eibach springs in box with bout 1000miles on them for bout £100, as i paid £160 for them!lol

I've had my Sportlines for over a year and a half now and I'm pleased with them although I've kept the original shocks and because of this I believe they are on their way out...

Nice handling although can be harsh at times but then you can't really have both the comfort and the handling, you are going to have to sacrifice one or the other!

i only want to lower it 40mm because i want to fit sum 16 by 7.5 wheels on it and im thinking 50mm is jst to low for this size of wheel.

what do you think?? anybody done this?

i'm sure alot of people have it lowered 50+ with 16x7's but someone else will need to confirm that 7.5's would be ok at that lowerage
