one way of putting it.

Skill driving helps a lot. You can usually tell when you have a crap driver as their cornering is all over the place.

Just had a close call with a Vauxhall Tigra. Tigra wanted a serious race. I got whupped but got a little caught out on the traffic lights..... DOH!

Managed to get in front but only cause I had to use short cuts. West Norwood always good fun.

My plan is usually to get right in front of the car and block its way. After that you can play with it whatever you like. Slow right down to 30mph. That really annoys them.

Hey what do people think of the Honda Civic Advert.... Man that has got to be the advert of 2006.

Same here, grew out of it when I was 12 and went off Scalectrix.

Anyone who races on the roads is a ****, end of story.

gotta agree with these guys really, only time i make any effort to beat the guy next to me is if i'm in the wrong lane and need to get ahead  as i've only got a mk2 1litre i don't exactly get much of a competitive spirit though

Can't really say anything bad about racers... As long as precausions are taken and a race is not takes too seriously then it's all good natured fun.
Racing has become a way of life... Why would you make 2 lanes at traffic lights that turn into one other than to make people race...

Yeah, as long as it's a seriously experienced, advanced standard racing driver with your elite skills doing the racing, I'm sure it's utterly fine mate. Well done, wish I could be as good as you

I'm guessing you consider yourself to be an above average driver right?

Well no harm in dreaming...

...If you look at my 1st reply to this I dont really race...
& Like I said as long as its not taken too seriously (i.e.no overtaking around islands, dodging and weavin putting others at risk) its just a bit of fun...
It's an evergrowing craze weather you like it or not...

The choice to rise up to the challenge (race) is down to the driver.

I was only asking what cars have you pipped at the lights.

Everyone has come across it at some point in time. If not your probably one of those annoying Sunday drivers that drive under 30 mph on a week day.

Lets reinstate the question.........

WHAT CARS HAVE YOU PIPPED AT THE LIGHTS????

cars with vtech can be fun. if they get bogged down then they're stuffed. I'm not a recer off the lights, but I surprised my mate in his Civic Type R (both 2 up) in the valver.

not saying the valver is a faster car, I was merely lucky as he must have bogged down a bit. backed off round the next corner to claim victory (2 lane one way industrial estate coming to work). it wasn't even that close - and he was giving it hell - he hit the limiter in 1st (probably another downfall).

he must have been a bit p1ssed.

p.s. I hate threads like this - lots of artistic license is often used. however, beating a car off the lights is legit (as proven above). It's just when people claim their polo is faster - that's when it gets on my wick!

The other week a golf MK4 pulled up next to me, black, blacked out windows, slammed to the max! You know the type!

He looked at me then looked at his girfriend, so Itook a look at his MRS (he didnt seem to pleased with that!) He started revving, I just sat there, when the red man sign come up, counted 1..2....started to rev....3 OFFFFF!!! It was neck and neck, I was giving it all I had, got to a bit of traffic and i managed to weave through it and that was the last i saw of him!! Even better as he was trying to show off to his MRS!

Had to deal with some mad Nissan Micra person at work today. Boy does he love his micra........

He's got the sports version. Ok I give nissans the reliability rating but certainly I'm no fan of Micras.

Sorry laura, wasnt really implying you are a sunday driver driving at 30 mph.

I'm Waiting patiently for the new polo GTI.......

1 litre too.

My current list:

1.2 Corsa.

I actually pull off faster at the lights that my friends 1.4 sport Corsa, until third gear when he takes off.

1st gear and 2nd are quite amazing on my polo, until as i said, 3rd gear, when it stops accelarating.
