Removing lower center grill - Question!

Post by Vortice »

Hi,

Today I was trying to fit the gti grilles to my car. I was able to fit the upper center grill and the little ones on the sides of the bumper (not difficult  ), but I couldn't get the lower center one off :? Is it necessary to remove the bumper to get it off, or is there any other way to do it?

Cheers

It is clipped around the edges and is a real pain to remove.

You could try pry off the bottom edge with a plastic tool and pull it out like that or perhaps thread some strong string thru the holes and use it as leverage.

I used a combination of the two ideas to remove it - I ended up breaking one whole side of clips, but it does not matter if you are not keeping the old grille.

New honeycomb one will just click into the slots left in the bumper cutout for it.

Hope helps,

Hi,

If its anything like the mk4 one... push down with a screwdriver on the clip and pull at the same time.

Good Luck
