Has anybody had to replace their's. Mine needs changing but i have a feeling it's a tricky job? :roll:

Had to do this on previous mk4, well I didnt my mechnic did, you have to remove the roof lining to get to the gromit.

did it on my G40 - you have to pull the rubber boot seal away, then warm up the edge of the roof lining with a hairdryer where it's glued down etc, you can then gently peel the lining away. Inside there will be a bar that is held in by a couple of clips, once you unclip it the lining drops down enough to access the nut on the bottom of the aerial.

Assuming the Gti is the same, then it's not too difficult, just need to take your time so as not to stretch the roof lining.

Is it the rubber seal at the bottom of the aerial, mine is needing done as well, didnt realise was that difficult to replace.

Yeah it's the rubber piece at the base of the aerial. I can see myself making a mess !! :lol:

Yeah same as mine, although mine has came right off, appears to have just merished away, someone on forum told me there is an aerial repair kit that you can get but I cant find part number for it, I would make a mess :D
