Having known 2 people who have owned GT Turbos, I know which I would rather have.

Naturally :D

The GTi can have its reliability issues, but I'd still put my money on it to start every morning over the Punto.

what do you expect, it is a turbo after all. Id like to see how the GT would fair upto a nicely tuned 6n3 GTi though :D

What are the specs on the Punto, is it a Mk1 or 2?

My friend used to have a Punto GT in standard form it wasn't that much quicker than the Polo GTi it could pull 3-4 car lengths to 100, if the GT was behind me he would slowly go past me, nothing like the speed of the one in the video. We both went on the rollers on the same day I got 132.5bhp he got 134bhp can't remember the torque figures but they were about 30lbft apart. However once he had the boost wound up with an exhaust and a air filter the size of a KFC family bucket the GT was a flying machine it would leave me standing still it was running around 160bhp but had a huge increase in torque. I also thought it was a good looking car, his was mint not even a dink on it shame the guy that bought it off him twated it a week later.

thing is the punto has an enormous weight advantage over the polo. It only wieghs 1000KG whereas polo gti has a lardy 250kg extra to carry.

Also the punto is an 8v engine which means its easier to get it off the mark. once the turbo kicks in on top of that, its all over.

For all the cheap fast cars out there a fiat would be on the bottom of the list.

You can push the panels in with ur little finger and they will dent, same goes for 106 GTI but i'd still have the 106 over the punto.

Would have the 106 over the GT aswell purly cause it handles better I would say in build quality terms the Punto was better.

The Polo isn't as heavy as you think the book kerb weight is 1032kg.
