Had a visit from Prash today who very kindly came over to install a BMC induction kit on my GTi. We had a few minor hiccups along the way but the end result is that the Polo is now equipped with a BMC and I am a very happy owner indeed!
The only real stumbling block was that the engine cover has bolted on so tight that we simply couldn't shift it. After a bit of trying and swearing we decided to head up to the local dealership and get them to remove it, as they were the last ones to have taken it off! Credit to Inchcape VW, they had it off in about 2 minutes flat. And then reminded me that my clutch is knackered. Thanks... for.. that (it gets replaced next Saturday).
So basically my old airbox is off, the new BMC is on, and only now do I find out what all the fuss is about. What a fantastic noise!!
At steady town speeds and acceleeration, its perfectly well mannered and normal. As soon as the loud pedal is depressed, then *waaaaaaaarp* away we go at full chat! It simply sounds immense, very addictive haha. The first time I opened up the throttle I couldn't stop grinning
Pics will be posted up shortly - currently have the BMC, custom cold air feed and a pipercross crankcase breather filter fitted thanks to Prash. I think I've learnt enough today to confidently remove the whole lot and swap it back to standard/modify the cold air feed too, bonus
Pics soon!
