Well there was a slight scratch on the Vectra in front, which I think I must have grazed him in all the flying around. So will be claiming off me, but it will in the end get passed down the van driver that caused the whole thing, so I'll get to keep my no claims (hopefully  )

Well I think that when (sorry "if" ) they right it off, then I need to tell them then that I want to put the plate on retention or something, otherwise I think it does go with the car.

Well I felt fine yesterday afterwards, no aches or anything. But today I woke and my neck is killing me. I dont like that whole "claiming whiplash when you dont have it just for the money lark", but I think I may genuinley have it. Gonna go to the hospital after work tonight I think

Right, here are the pics I took at the side of the road while waiting for recovery. Sorry about the quality, they are only camera phone pics.

The back end with all the glass in the road

Where I ended up in the ditch

And finally the van that hit me Image
Looking at the damage on his big fat van I was quite impressed with how the ickle Polo stood up to it.

Would have thought it could be repaired if theres no buckling in the roof. But i wouldn't want it back after any repair tbh.. Shame its a nice car.. :(

Dunno, that rear section looks pretty knackered... gutted for you mate, nice car it was. See if you can save the plate and the engine before it's scrapped!

Got any pictures of the scrape on the vectra? From the angle you've gone in the ditch i'd be skeptical you've done him any significant damage. Want to compare with the half-football shaped hole i've put in the back of the astra from nudging a pole in McDonalds car park (BLOODY POSTS IN BLOODY CAR PARKS ARGH.. but at least it wasn't a 50mph smash!) to see if he's just being a whiney sod and could clear it up with a bit of T-cut and save all the insurance aggro.

Sorry mate I haven't got any of the Vectra. He'd already gone by the time I started taking pictures. I didnt look at it too close (was concentrating more on my car :( ) but it was just a silver scrape/scratch. Couldnt see anywhere on my car that was Blue off his so not too sure whether I actually caught him or not. But it was possible I slightly caught him.

Cheers mate

I just had a call from the garage, asking me where the damage was, cus they were told it wasnt drivable, and they couldnt really see much damage on the back or the rear. I just couldnt believe what he was saying. I told him there was a big whole in the front bumper and the back had completely caved in on the wheel arch. He then sounded as confused as me and goes "its the red polo right!" I said "err no, mines the silver Polo"!!!!!!

When we were finally on the right track he said he'd looked at it bit not done a full inspection yet, but reckons its about 50/50 as to whether they write it off.

I hope they do now as I ordered a Golf GT TDI 140PS on Saturday (on the condition that mine is written off) so I want that now!

I am soo sorry to hear this mate, glad your ok. Hope you get the Golf (but i hope some can repair the polo). Get the compo ball rolling. Mr friends car with me in it, was rammed from the rear. It took 20months to agree a figure.
