RWD v6 beast anyone?
There 215/45 15 on the rear. Prefer tyres that fit the wheels rather than stretched ones. I wanna lower it more on the back so gonna widen it.
Havent a clue how much a bodyshop would charge and dont know how they'd go about doing it. I intend to cut the arch right back, then bond mk2 golf front wheelarch spats to the rear quarter and blend them in and paint. Only problem looks where it meets the skirt and what to do with the bumper. Should in theory be 20-30mm wider each side. If i use g60 arches it will be around 50mm wider each side, but think thats a little to much. but on the other hand could get 9j's on there!
Will also need to weld the inner arch to the outer where i cut it. Cant wait to do it, looks to be the most fun part of the job.
Wanna get on with it all but its raining lots!

Didnt get as much done today as anticipated. Kept raining and i'm a wimp and dont like getting wet.
Finished the rubbing strip holes and thats all loosely primed now. They took quite a few layers of filler to get perfect but its spot on now. Made a start on the front bumper, gotta leave the foam overnight to go rock hard before i can cut it back and apply plastic filler. A few people i've spoke to thinks this is a poor idea. Lots of testing was done on the rear bumper to see if it was durable. When the bumper is off the car it still bends and twists like it did originally. According the the manufacturer of the plastic filler, it bonds to the orignal plastic and will not crack nor sink. Only time will tell on the sinking, but i know it wont crack (some t*t did a handbrake turn into the back bumper and it was fine)
So the plans for the arches will have to wait another week but hopefully i can sort the front and rear (needs a lil work) bumpers tommorrow. Few pics for ya...

Weather poo again so didnt get too much done. Cut all the foam off flush with my bumper, then applied a few coats of plastic filler sanding flat between each coat. It should now have enough in it for the finished bumper but may need one more skimming.

The cut back foam
Also removed the rear badge and filled almost flush with quicksteel, using an aerosol can as a rolling pin to keep it as even as possible

Then applied a nice thin coat of filler, and flatted back using a block

Hopefully gonna finish the bumpers in the evenings this week, then just gotta do tailgate handle (decided its gotta go) arch extensions, skirts and fit my wing. Oh, then spray of course!
Right, did a little saturday but was unable to do any today. Managed to finish the front and rear bumpers, and finish smoothing the boot lid, handle an all.
Decided I cant be bothered with the arches and am just gonna roll them lots more. Will go for the stretched look next time i need tyres (which i dont really wanna do!)
So skirts can go on next weekend then its time for the spray booth... few minor secrets up my sleeve. Watch this space.
Will get some pics up tommorrow if its stopped raining!
