Of course the car will stop quicker if the disks are bigger. It makes less work for the calipers, simple common sense will tell you that.

Also the very same reason it will reduce brake fade, and improve feel.

No.
There is more contact area on the disc's, but this will not stop you any quicker.
Your tyres and ABS wont allow you to stop any quicker.

Do some real research on the subject, and prove us wrong.

Less brake fade as the larger area can disperse the heat better.
Same stopping distance.
We are talking about an extra couple of millimetre squared between 256mm and 280mm disc's actually coming into contact with the brake pads.

I agree with you, a few mill wont make a massive difference.
Im talking about bigger discs in general, it's all about the calipers having more leverage over the turning mass of the wheels.

Take a really tight nut for example, if you use a long spanner it will take less force to undo the nut.

This means with bigger discs your more likely to lock up on braking, but actually the faster your travelling means the less likely your wheels are to lock up.

YOU CAN BRAKE MORE EFFICIENTLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS WITH BIGGER DISCS.

Bigger discs make your brake setup more responsive but if you use them carefully you can stop faster from high speeds.

you WILL brake from 100-0 faster with the G60 setup than with the standard setup, and youll get around a race track faster too.

Also the braking contact area of bigger discs have a greater circumference, meaning they turn at less RPM and so generate heat less quickly.

so because the discs are bigger, they turn slower?

Right, cheers

lol they are turning the same RPM as the wheels and your hubs mate!

280mm brakes will help out more on a track, but only after the GTI brakes have over heated, and it wouldn't be much longer until the 280mm brakes did the same ;)

Dont get me wrong, its a great upgrade.
But it wont make you stop any faster :)

Also to add.
Your calipers are the same size, as are your brake pads.

Meant to say that there is more material spinning inbetween the pads, meaning there is more time between the same area of the disk being in contact with the pads.

Doesnt matter they still have more leverage, you dont have to stamp on the brakes as hard to get the same bite.
