Best Suspension Kit

Hi All

Just wondering what who all think is the Best Suspension Kit for the GTi and which one offer the best value for money.

Also what is every running on their GTi's at the moment.

How do you define best?

Quality of manufacture/materials, damping, handling, lowest?

There are so many variables, and most gti owners won't have experienced more than one set up on their car.

Is that not your car in your sig pic? If it is, it is already most definately lowered.

Queue lots of 'coilovers are best' replies.

Fair point.

Yes it is my car. It's lowered on Sachs, I not happy with the handling. Feels like the dampeners are about go. very unstable over less than perfoect roads. When ever you go over a bump the bonnet sort of lauchs into outer space and back again, a very bouncy rather than regid ride.

TBH. I'm not impressed with handling at all. My previous car was a Fiat Punto Sporting lowered myself on -35mm Apex Springs. Handling was surpurb and gave me all of confidence throwing the car around. etc.

So i'm looking to replace the existing suspension. with something recommended.

If it is just springs and a subtle drop you are after, you cannot go wrong with Eibach Sportline springs. Matched to the OEM shocks they will lower the car 45-50mm and the handling will be much improved with noticeably less roll, giving you more confidence in the car and its abilities IMO.

I was tempted to say "coilovers are best"

but this is not necessarily true and depends on what you want from the car.

Choice unfortunately comes down to budget. Cheap unbranded kits around Â£200 up to KW V3's etc @ Â£1k +

I read that Eibachs are generally your best bet

It may just be co-incidence it looks the same and had the same shocks !

I'm running standard shocks and springs until December 2nd when coilovers will be fitted. I know of several users on here who are using the Eibach Sportline springs and all of their reports have been very favourable! Redline and cyhliu are just two members with the Eibachs matched to standard shocks

Excellent news. Apparently I have Eibach springs on my GTi already, but I need to replace the dampeners. But seeing that the drop is more than 40mm, I thought shortened dampeners would be necessary.

On the other hand my x car Fiat Punto Sporting was lowered -35 mm on Apex Springs on OEM shocks, and I was very happy with the handling.

Hmmmm, just been qouted by VW Â£305 to supply and fit OEM shockers all round. I'm starting to think, bite the bullet and go Coil overs. FK's any good?

He does cheap Evo kits for like Â£280 and they have ad very good reviews
