Ugly, gutsy, sky-high maintainance costs, what more can I say about a scooby. Never been a fan of tarted-up family saloon cars, but each to their own I suppose.

subara impreza = crap car :P

I don't think they are bad cars...some of the newer shaped ones are alright but an evo of the same model would trash it in every respect....and the problem is you get proper chavs in the old ones now...

I think this is an each to their own kinda topic. I personally dont like scoobys or any kind of rally car. I'd much rather have a Polo GTI anyday of the week, but if you like that kinda thing, sure have one.

But you have to remember that everyone thinks differently, so IMO saying a Polo GTI is a crap car is just wrong, to others it might be different :P

Cheers,

Perky

No, just the gearboxes.

Couple of points. Firstly starting a thread on a forum populated by people who own Polo GTi's are for the main part quite happy with them isn't really going to achieve anything. I already know my car is slower than an Impreza; that's the reason I can afford to insure it. But my main point is what more did you expect from it? I'd perhaps suggest some better research before buying something next time.

As for this whole Subaru/Evo/Skyline thing. I've always been an Impreza man, unless you were to tempt me with an Evo VI Makkinen.

OH yes!!!! Subaru all the way.

I have owned a 290bhp impreza and would still have it if it wasn't so damn thirsty which doesn't help with me doing 400+ miles a month so ended up selling it to my uncle.

But I honestly do enjoy the polo theres just something about it although not in any way as fast as the scooby but hey I knew that when I bought it

thought i'd join in :) scooby vs GTi, theres no contest really ive not too long ago had this:Image
only had it 8 months or so, but running cost are too high and not only that i was getting about 55 miles to a tenner (if i was lucky) AND !!!! as u can tell from the pic it was the non-turbo :o
so think about this yeah!!!!!!!!! :x the GTi isnt gonna grab u by the nuts (sorry ladies) and take u on a mental ride @ 100+ or have u sideways in Asda carpark on wet saturday night. BUT its still got some punch, not bad loooking, parts are cheap & servicing, also if u wanna start modifying its not gonna cost u a kidney  to stick an airfilter and exhaust on.
Rant over 8)
p.s used to have a turbo scooby and killed two engines on that so not that fantastic

Hahaha.

I owned an Audi S2, remapped to 272bhp before the Polo, I regularly pissed off jumped up scooby owners in a car six years older and based on the original (and best ever) rally car.

I now own a 2001 Polo GTI, and like it a lot. No, it is nowhere near as fast as the S2, but it is, excuse the turn of phrase, f*****g stupid to think it would be.

It is fairly economical, nippy and fun to drive.
