17"'s on a Polo GTI?
I think it all really depends on what you want the car for. Showing off and driving slow or performance. If you want your car for show and you never drive fast i would go for 17s but with the 195/40/17 tyre which will make the difference between rubbing n not rubbing when you lower around 60 to 70 mill on coilovers. If your the type of person who when someone is up your arse trying to race you and your eager to rip them and put the foot down then go for 15's. Also you can have the best of both worlds having smaller wheels cause they look good to and you can lower your car more without rubbing. I just wanted to press a button when this happened to me so my 17s would change to 15s.

IMO the 17s looked really nice, had it lowered about 55mm with slight archwork and tyres were 205/40/17
Go for 17s if your not fussed about handling etc... but if your after speed and great handling 15s are the way to go.
Just looking for the right set of 15s for my motor now!
