The last set would be Azev A's not the Brocks.

*goes off to ebay.de to look for a set of RM's *

Got to be the RMs, there's no competition.

Although I am quite partial to the black TH-Monos that Dubmodder now has.

Yeah, I'll probably be at Bluewater in the 'Rocco. I've got a nice big box of old VW magazines that date back to 1990, which includes loads of stuff about the Mk3

That 'Rocco is really nice. I think I shall start the search for a Kamei grille :D

Just thought I'd update you all on the progress on the 'Rocco.

I've done the following:

- Removed all the unnecessary stickers. The ones in the quarterlights were blocking my field of vision. Kept the Club Scirocco ones on a piece of cardboard in case I need to put them on again.
- Removed the door protectors, as they were faded and orange. (Reminder: will need to polish these areas).

As for the future plans:

- I will need to upgrade the stereo and speakers. I'm thinking of putting a Blaupunkt HU, for some OEM goodness, and some 6x4 JBL speakers for the front and back (may amp them for better quality). Possibly stick the Vibe sub in the boot with bigger wiring.
- Lowering. Thinking of Coilovers. I'm looking at Weitec ones or some FK's. Possibly lowered 60 or 70mm. New top mounts and possibly bushes.
- Braces. Thinking of getting either a Neuspeed lower tie bar or an OMP one. I've noticed a bit of strut flex, and I think bracing the struts will give better handling.
- Debadged grille or black badge. Will probably get a spare grille badge and spray it black, like the rear badges.
- Wheels. After seeing the black 'Rocco at Inters on D90's I'm swaying towards a set of polished Porsche wheels. I don't care if people in "The Scene" think they're common, I'm building this car for myself. Either these or a set of Ronal LS :D
- Plates. Plain British plates for daily use. Possibly some German plates with red text with OLLIE on them for shows :D
- Detailing. The engine bay is particularly grubby. Then it needs a clay. Paintwork has a few swirls in it, so once I get myself a machine polisher I'll give it a go over with some Menzerna. Will be waxed with Chemical Guy's 50/50 wax.
- Engine. Possibly a Weber carb to replace the slightly finicky Pierburg one. K&N panel filter and I'm keeping the standard exhaust.

I'm not sure how long to keep it for to be honest. I'm getting used to the driving position and it's beginning to make sense to me. I'll still be hanging round with you guys next year, no doubt. I just won't be on the club stand.

You never know, I may be back with a Polo GTI this time next year ;)

I thought I'd clean the engine a bit, so it's slightly more presentable. The engine bay was particularly grubby, and it looked like the previous owner hadn't cleaned it in a while.

I thought I'd bring out the Autoglym Engine and Machine cleaner for the job. But once I got going I realised that both products wouldn't cut through the crap. I think I need to invest in a strong citrus degreaser to shift the remainder of the crap.

Some before/after pictures.

And the interior- I love the seats!

Sorry if the pictures came out a bit dark. I've been rushing around a bit. I'd better get some lunch.

And I missed out on a set of D90's the other day. Wanted to pay £150 for them, but they went for £184 :(

I thought I'd show off the goodies I recieved from Euro Car Parts this morning:

Image

I bought the K&N filter mostly to replace the old one, and I like how it's re-usuable. Any power gains would be a bonus. The new wipers are spot on, too.

The car DESPERATELY needs a wash, but I'm waiting until I recieve my Superspray next week (my Hosecoil seems to have travelled to another dimension). I'll probably give it a full exterior detail sometime next week.

I also decided on what wheels I'm getting. At my Dad's place, there's a set of second hand Mim five-spoke wheels. They're 16x7.5, and should suit the car down to a tee. I'm thinking of getting them refurbed with a diamond-cut face and anthracite detailing. Once wrapped in some 195/40/16 tyres, they should look spot-on. Next is lowerage. I have the H&R catalogue next to me, and I shouldn't be reading it right now :?

I need money

NEW WHEELS, well kinda 8)

Here are the Mim wheels in question:

Image

Nice, well not at the moment. They're a little dingy, anything a refurb couldn't sort out. There's definitely potential in them.

In progress:

Et voila!:

Then I realised it would be easier doing it this way:

I should be sending them off to Spit and Polish soonish 8)

What do y'all think of them then?
