Oh, it does work, the address is actually...

www.performancemetro.com

it's got a craptastic flash intro (comic sans ahoy) and basically all of it just hurts the eyes compared to here... three cheers for the uk-polos forum team.

PS speaking of the forum, they're all being very silly boys - http://forums.delphiforums.com/metroclu ... /?msg=8416 .... looks like this guy both has a busted speedo, and was doing 110 on the A5 (yikes). Ohhhh dear.

Yeah yeah i know it's not nice to laugh (or threadjack) and they're just doing the best they can (and most of the posts are very similar to our own really) but you have to have a laugh at other's expense from time to time just to give yourself a lift. Like those kids howling at me riding along in the breadvan, some prime cuts of Queen turned up high, wearing my workshirt and resting arm on the sills with the window down. In winter.

(plus they have to pay for forum membership?!)

:D i've got a new one, If your lucky enough to get to bluewater shopping center on a staurday (i think) and you park in the middle floor of the Left john lewis car park (looking at john lewis from the outside) you will find a white hyundi (sp?) Accent with a very nice (mmmmmmm) HUGE spoiler (same style as the one bolted to the supra in fast & furioius) not lowered, no body kit, i think i single crappy chrome tail pipe thing OH and NOW it has a REALLY nice dark blue stickers (what ever they're called) that cover the entire side of the car! It is well worth a trip to see, may have to take my camera down with me next time!

the worst has got to be a subara bonnet vent on a nova 1.1 :)
and a rear wing like an ironing board, and to top it off its sprayed in baby boy bedroom blue, it looks terrible to say the least, and hes still running hubcabs!

Pointless update on The MG Metro Around The Corner (TM)

After a short period of it actually "looking alright", he's gone and nonced it up again. The grille has again disappeared (to what ends, who knows, as it looks like a pile of sh*te with just the red metal of the frame visible inset from the line of the bonnet), but never mind that. It looks like he's had some kind of unfortunate coming-together. Possibly someone hit him in Tesco's car park while he was getting some chips, incontinence pants and a new white hat. Possibly he was about to get the upper hand in an ill-advised inner city road race and his opponent tried to run him off the road, which he skillfully avoided the worst of by braking out of danger and sending the other driver careening into a bus shelter. Likely I think that he overcooked it at 20mph on a straight road and ran straight sideways into a tree.

The upshot being... the drivers side front wing has been replaced by the cheapest one from the scrapyard, not a nice cherry red like the rest of the car, but a faded pink and white kind of colour. It's being held on with gaffer tape, or perhaps packing tape. Yes. GAFFER TAPE. And the suspension looks a little a-cock as well. The front tyre (seriously fat alloys that look in good nick - gotta give him that) is at a camber angle that seriously can't be too advisable and is totally out of true compared to the rear. I sure hope he isn't driving it in that state.

But knowing the guy from my childhood and some rare (not rare enough) meetings since, he probably is. Very fast. With no thought of going to a garage.

The worst thing near me right now, is a black MG ZR.

It gets worse: it has a full Mynheer Mimbari bodykit, including the hideous rear wing and dodgy bonnet. It's also got a very tacky set of Lexus style backlights.

Looks like this (but black):

Hm, call me dunce, but i think in black..... if you got rid of those ugly bonnet "nostrils" up against the screen... and of course changed those awful stock lights so no one could immediately spot it as a Rover 25.. it'd be a decent enough Batmobile :D

Speaking of two of a kind looking really bad... I think I'm trapped in a nightmare. The kid round the corner didn't make his Metro look even more doggy. HE JUST GOT A SECOND ONE AND THEYRE BOTH PARKED NOSE-TO-ARSE ON THE ROAD *RIGHT NOW*. It's like the devil came up from hell and felt a bit homesick, so he duplicated the nearest evil thing with some subtle twists.

Either that or: 1. his brother or 2. his equally scary friend (notable school pastime, at age 10 - ten! - digging matchbox cars deep into the gritty roadsalt sandpit til they were ruined. Daily.) has followed his lead and got a totally similar car. Maybe they're making up a stock race or destruction derby team. I dunno. It's just plain worrying. Two red MG metros, both sans grille, one F on skinnies with an almost decent eyebrow spoiler (til you catch that the bonnet isnt closed flush anymore) and the huge sunshade transfer, the other a G on quite desirable alloys with the gaffer tape and the shot suspension.

I suspect they're coming to eat poor, sick Ribena Carton. Save us!

I beg yer pardon?

edit: Ah! It's a burberry smiley with the top part of a steering wheel! class act to you sir.

Another couple of little ones:

An old Mini Cooper that's got PHAT alloys and low profile tyres on the back... and the original (must be from about 1975) super-skinny /80 pramwheel steelies on the front. It's an interesting look for sure (hotrod style, pretty mean - it's all in black too), but the handling must be atrocious.

And the usual type stuff that goes on; a red early-90s Cavalier (probably a 1.4) with an enormous (blue!) wing on the back. Driven very badly. Driver making a point of spinning the wheels and doing a burnout... in the wet, at a very oily junction.
There was a Seicento with an equally montrous aerofoil at the back as well... wonder if it tips up into a wheelie with a gust of wind at 70mph?

Never used to notice all these cars til I saw this topic
