is this true??

Post by Andrew_robert87 »

ive been reading some previous post's about headunit installs along with sub and amp installs and i came across some one saying that if you remove the old standard headunit, its connected to the alarm and when you install and new after market one the alarm will not work or randomly go off sometimes :S and sometimes the central locking will fail??

is this true? has this happend to anyone?

thanks people

Its technically possible, but I have never heard any reports of it....

The alarm is very clever in the GTI...mine goes off if I even try and tamper with any of the wiring loom... :-s

ive changed my headunit, it was installed by a proper audio shop and my alarm goes off randomly. Not that often but it definately goes off for no reason :?

is that linked to the headunit?

Could be anything really, loud exhaust going by, a cat on the roof, wind etc.

Surely it would be hard to say aye its my headunit that causes it.

like i said, my alarm used to go off randomly because firstly water was leaking into the boot and finding its way to the book lock, which made the wire wet, so the car must have thought the boot was being opened, and secondly wen the water actualy dripped on to the shelf lol, its al sealed up now no more water :D

really not sure whats with my alarm at all, it never went off once until i changed the headunit and ever since it just seems to do it when it feels like it.

Maybe its just a coincidence :?
