Polo GTI: Central Locking failed
No the remote is fine, you have the same problem as mine. I've ran vag com on my comfort module and all is aparantly fine, but there's nothing else it can be.kraized wrote:Why would that be broken if everything works on the CL apart from unlocking via the remote? Seems a bit funny. Does the remote need reprogramming or something.
1) the remote is sending both a 'lock' and 'unlock' signal due to the alarm activating and de-activating.
2) the central locking pump is working as it operates under key locking
3) the switch on the door card s fine (it doesnt work on my car but i've tested it on another car)
4) the remote receiver works
5) all fuses are fine.
What else can it be? I believe the signal from the comfort module to central locking pump is gone, which could either be a dodgy wire, a dodgy pin on the pump or a dodgy comfort module. I'm now wondering if its due to ftment of the wrong pump, which may not have the same pin layout. The pump itself is very unsimilar internally.
Alex, is the comfort module the same throughout the 6n2 range or is it specification specific?
Andy

My original pump was 8-pin. I couldn't find one anywhere without paying VW £200 plus labour plus VAT. So I fitted a 12-pin pump. Everything works fine apart from unlocking via the remote. It unlocks everything fine via the key so surely there cannot be anything wrong with the pump.
Someone mentioned on another forum to disconnect the battery and touch the positive and negative wires together to discharge any current left in the circuits. This should apparently reset the comfort module. I haven't tried this, bit wary myself. Can't see how that would help.

IT WORKS!!!
At least it did this morning. I tried to unlock the car via the remote and it worked. So there can't be anything wrong with the comfort thingy. I didn't try to disconnect the battery beforehand btw.
But...it didn't work again about an hour ago
It's weird because I can hear the pump trying to unlock the doors but the locks fail to unlock. Sometimes I can see the plungers in the doors raise slightly but not enough to unlock them.
Could there be an air pocket/debris or something trapped in the supply hose?

I had this problem!!!
The way i solved the problem was if you go into your boot and remove the interior where the first aid kit should be, you'll find your central locking pump lodged in some polystyrene! Remove the blue pipe from the pump and blow and suck on the end. (its not meant to sound rude) Anyway, if you dont manage to make it unlock/lock, chances are you've got an air leak! If thats the case, its just a matter of following the pipes which the air travels down! Just check at joints first and then if you dont find owt, you'll have the much harder task of following the pipes and checking for cracks in the pipes!!!
I tracked mine to the petrol cap lock! There's a silicone/rubber seal which keeps the air pressure in circuit where the metal spike pops out into the petrol cap. You'll find it in the same area as the pump! Its probably hidden behind metal plating and you'll be able to see 2 screw fixing it to the back of the metal plate. Just unscrew and pull it out!
HTH
PM me if you get stuck with owt!

That is a very valid point!vdubit wrote:But if there was an air leak, surely the central locking wouldnt work when you turn the key?
Maybe its something to do with an overide in the unit! It only allows the pump to run until unlocking/locking of the doors is complete or run for so long then deactivates so not to overheat. Plus maybe when you turn the key in the door, thats at a further distance from the pump than the petrol cap, so when the pressure changes at the door, the over-ride deactivates the pump!
(just read that back and doesn't make entire sense to me but its late and am sure you'll sort of get my point....i hope)
Finally managed to acquire a 6n2 pump today, popped it in and yup, it works! So it turns out that a pump from a golf (well a mk4 cabrio anyway) is different from a polo one. It would appear that the signal wire from loom to the pump that sends the 'unlock' signal from the remote, is in a different pin at the pump, thus it no worky!

Where did you manage to get your pump from? Its weird you say the pin allocation is different but mine works sometimes and not others.vdubit wrote:Finally managed to acquire a 6n2 pump today, popped it in and yup, it works! From memory, £204 +vat from the dealers. They are chassis number specific, so you'll need your chassis number when you order it. It may well be coded to the alarm/immolizer as well, so the dealer may need to program it and you'll probably need your skc code.
What is your problem with the locking? Its more likely to be the pump as these are common as muck.
I got mine from the scrappy by the way.
