ABS problems...

Post by Si_GTi »

So my ABS light has been coming on and off intermittently over the last few months. Whilst at the Club Polo RR day one of the guys there plugged a code reader in and identified a possible faulty rear nearside ABS sensor.

Now basically the ABS definitely still works but today the light came on and the next time I touched the brake pedal (luckily in a car park) the ABS unit kicked straight in and made that horrible graunching/grinding sound like it does. I took my foot off the brakes then went back on and this time all OK!

The light has since gone off again and the brakes are working as normal once more

What's going on!? Just a sensor or something more serious?

Cheers ;)

Worth a search on this one.....

I would be checking for loose wires and dodgy ABS sensors...

My light has been on/off every day since i bought it.

The fault code reader said it was a sensor so i replaced it but the light is still on and off all the time.

It has been worse since i had people in the back, and i havent had a chance to check the cables under the back seat yet.

I would go with the sensor or the wires under the back seat are just on a wobble.

Is a new sensor expensive?
