Hi I'm a newbie to the forum. I'm picking up a Polo Sport 1.4 16v 100bhp on Sat.
Got a quick question on the engines:
I wondered how you can tell if the car is the 1.4 16v model. It's got the 16v badge on the back and the V5 says "Polo Sport". However the badge in the top of the engine bay is missing. I wanted to be sure as I rang the insurance company and they said it was a FSI.
Also where does the term 9n come from as I understand the Mk6 is referred to as 9n on here?
Thanks
Trim

nah, don't go with that as an accurate way of telling.Trim wrote:I done some research before I went looking and found all the 100bhp had the 16v on the back
the rear badges and engine badges were down to the dealer to sort out. a lot of cars have weird badges including whether they have red letters or not!

Put the reg in step 3 and it usually comes up
And speaking of rear badges, I'm toying with the idea of putting an SDI for comedy value when some chav in his corsa tries to beat me off the lights

9N is the VW generic name for this platform, previous Polo was 6N and Fabia is 6Q - that last comment is why lots of the Polo parts start with 6Q as that platform was where some of the parts were first used - sadly that also means you've bought a Skoda Fabia with a smarter set of clothes!Trim wrote:Hi I'm a newbie to the forum. As Dave said, any badges can be stuck to a car or removed.
