Current count:
One "Fox Squirrel" (risu-kitsune) or "Teto" plushie thing. Looks like a little mutant lion. The first thing to sit there. Enjoys the feeling of going fast without all that pesky wind.
One Cheeky Monkey ("Schweetheart") beanie baby that my nan bought. Gets used as a screen wipe
One Tribble. Started life as a playboy style bunnygirl (well, bunny boy) tail but now just looks like a white tribble. Also good for wiping.
And the latest arrival, a Volkswagen Beetle. No, not a proper 4-wheeler. It's a beanie "Scarab" bug thing that was on final clearance in the shop where I work (80p for a TY beanie, oh the humanity!), and really, really ugly and crying out for a VW logo tattooed on it's back in biro. Kind of has trouble squishing between the other 3, but I have the feeling it may yet eat the monkey.
Altogether they provide an amusing diversion for other drivers and my passengers, an easy way to spot the car, and an airbag substitute for those riding with me - I can spot the problem and brace precautionarily against the wheel after all, but they can't.
And a source of comfort in rough times of course, or entertainment in gridlock.
There's also Pilot V5 liquid ink writing pen disappeared amongst all that lot somewhere. And a book each of 1st and 2nd class stamps, and a simple 50p comb. Apart from that the high up areas are fairly clear as stuff tends to fly around. Mostly it's on the floor or in the door pockets, and wedged if at all possible. Tapes being maybe the main exception as they only go side to side (can't acclerate quick enough for them to fly out of the cubby between the ashtray and the gearstick).
Whats everyone got on their dashes? A total mess, or clean and uncluttered?
PS I dont collect them, but really... beanie babies rock. There's a Red Panda one, and a buffalo... crazy stuff. Not the average teddy bear. (and I only paid 80p to get a 'bug and a monkey.... but, $44.95 for the independently made plushie, and a good pound for the tribble)
