Just had my car mot'd

Handbrake cables basically f**k*d!!
The handbrake cables and new shoes plus wheel cylinders, i have fitted these before, but the wheel bearings, are they a pain?
Thanks

MOT Failure
yeah i see what you mean, but im doing this in a workshop and i have a hydralic press so hopefully be able to press them out and the new ones in, ill let you know anyway as i am trying tomorrow morning at work!!wadders wrote:The bearings are pressed into the drums, which if you haven't got the right tools are a pain to get out. Your best bet would be to get some new drums and bearings and using a suitable size drift to press new bearings into new drums.
Thanks for your help!!

I have half done her now, lets just say i am glad i caught it then, the bearing had got so hot in there i had to get a good puller in there to pull her out, any longer and i think it would have welded itself to the hub!!Petrol_Head wrote:I HAD THE SAME!!!!
IT TOOK ME A COUPLE HOURS!!!!!!!!!!!
I used a screw driver and a hammer and tapped the bearings out... you have to be patient ... but is easy!!!... very easy!!!!
they are £12 for GFS... (GERMAN FRENCH SWEEDISH)... not the £39 the mot garage wanted to charge me!
But apart from that it is quite easy, like you say just tap the old bearing and carriers out of the drum!!
thanks for your help!!
