The radio wont as the US uses different frequencies to us.

I bought a US headunit, the only difference is that in the US the Frequency Module (FM) scans in odd decimal digits,

eg, it will scan 87.9Mhz 88.1Mhz 88.3Mhz - increment of 0.1Mhz every step!

So you will basically miss the radio stations with an even decimal, such as KISS FM and CAPITAL FM

You can get a converter for this which plugs into the aerial socket for most radios

Where can you get that from clawz? I've a Head Unit from the US and i can only get about half the radio stations clearly here in ireland. It'd definatly be worth it...even tho i dun listen to the radio that much... How much do you reckon it'd be?

In addition to different FM scanning, American radios scan MW in 10KHz steps while in Europe, Asia, Africa etc. that's done in 9KHz steps.

Also, most radios from this part of the world (including those double-DIN Monsoons) do not include RDS features.

Still, it'd fit a Polo without problems.

Just remembered something: that converter basically changes your radio's FM frequency range, but won't change the way the unit scans the frequencies.

As the site probably explains, Japan uses a different FM range than the rest of the world (as usual).

I do know that some stereos have a choice of 9 or 10KHz increments for MW tunning, not sure about FM though.

'Course, if the thing can be tunned by the 0.01MHz then that's not really a problem I suppose.
