Passenger elec window just stopped working
Passenger elec window just stopped working
Now i've read the posts about peoples windows not working. Now the case with my passenger side elec window is that it just suddenly stopped one day. It is in the up position which is fine but when you press the elec button it won't go down and no noise can be heard. I thought this might mean that a fuse had blown so I checked the manual for where to find the fuse box and it doesn't have the electric windows listed on there as a number? Therefore I'm not sure i'm looking in the right place (fuse box) or if indeed there is a fuse? Can anyone point me in the right direction, the drivers side window works perfect. Thanks

Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
ive ended up in the interesting situation in which the motor for my passenger window is no longer connected to the wires in some way. so, basically, unless i put something under the window (bit of wood did the trick nicely) it started creeping down. fun times... check the motor hasn't seized, as this happened to me a couple of times. also check the window is properly fixed to the runner - incorrect alignment of the glass will overpower the motor and it won't move (again, intermittent problem with mine)

Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
I was looking to buy a new motor thinking that was the problem, changed the switch and the window was trying to move, found out i have a block of wood under mine and wen i moved this the window fell into my door, this sucks, i need a new regulator now. Does anyone know if it's a tough job to do?
Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
I still haven't got around to sorting my jammed windows. However, I understand that it's fairly easy but quite expensive to fix if you need to replace the regulator. I was quoted £180 (plu VAT) per side at my local VW dealer for replacements for my 2001 Variant a couple of weeks ago.
This was for the regulator and motor combined... the motor was available alone for about £150!

Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
I called VW and it's £74 for the regulator alone, thank god i didnt need the motor as it was sooo expensive. And we have a local vw specialist who will fit it for £40( a hours work) cos it looks really tricky, and you could ruin your door if you don't take it off right, and i dont wana risk that. Would you happen to know if it's easy to change a central locking pump..
Re: Passenger elec window just stopped working
Although I've now repaired mine without any parts, I'm intrigued about the massive difference in prices we were quoted from VW dealers. I was told I couldn't get the regulator on its own and that it would cost £180 plus VAT for each side.charliec125 wrote:I called VW and it's £74 for the regulator alone..
Has anyone else had similar problems.

well before the 6n2 the motor and mechanism could only be bought as a whole as far as i know.
