Re: Wind screen wash problem
Thats most likely the expansion tank gasket broken through. The washer bottle on the GTI is in two parts. The top half for filling and washing the windscreen, and the bottom half for the headlight washers which is hidden behind the wheel arch liner and fills the arch up. There is a rubber seal that is between the two, and this can, over time, perish.

alex, so the problem is the rubber seal? if not what is not needed to fix this? surely this aint a MOT failure is it..?alexperkins wrote:Thats most likely the expansion tank gasket broken through. Re: Wind screen wash problem

31 is the bottle you see on top, 32 is the seal that needs replacing if its always leaking out constantly, though the arm off 31 that goes into 30 often snaps, and needs repairing with something like araldite.

Re: Wind screen wash problem
I'm having this problem too.
The water is leaking out from the offside fog light grille.
Gonna get and check the rubber join this weekend as mentioned above

Re: Wind screen wash problem
You may have a leaking headlight washer. Its a common fault where the pressure seal leaks and water trickles out the base of the washer.
