VW Bora - GLI Replica - RARE! - NOW SOLD!

Post by tomxt99 »

Hi,

Here for sale is my VW Bora. I have owned this for the past year but Iam now planning to move away to university after my first year and cannot afford to keep a car thats not going to be used. I really cant believe Iam actually doing this but university comes before my car so here goes:

Standard Spec:
  • 2.3 V5 Highline - 150bhp
  • Indigo Blue Pearl
  • 68k miles
  • FVWSH - apart from the last 2 services, one a VW specialist and the other a Local garage but genuine VW parts were supplied.
  • MOT Jan 2010, Tax June 09
  • Heated cream sports leather with optional 3 rear headrests
  • Cream leather arm rest
  • Climate Control
  • Cruise Control
  • Auto dimming rear mirror
  • Auto Wipers
  • Winter pack - headlight washers, low washer fluid warning, heated washer jets
  • 6 Disc changer in boot
Modifications:
  • Genuine VW US GLI Front Valance
  • Genuine VW US GLI Rear Valance
  • Replica Anniversary sideskirts
  • Genuine VW US GLI Rear lights
  • Genuine VW US Smooth Rubstrip and clear side markers
  • Genuine VW Anniversary BBS RC 18x7.5J wheels and Falken FK452 tyres
  • VW Anniversary clocks
  • Weitec Hicon GT Coilovers
  • Smoked headlights
  • Audi TT 312mm front and 256mm rear brakes. Fronts have nearly new drilled discs.
  • Audi TT Front ARB
  • Neuspeed rear ARB
  • 12mm front and 20mm rear spacers
  • Powerflow backbox - to fit the rear valance, nothing loud just adds to the V5 tone
  • M3 Lip spoiler
  • Gloss Black grill, mirrors and badges
  • Vinyled B pillars
  • "Dewooded" interior - now gloss black
  • VW 3 blink indicator kit
  • Aero wipers
  • W8 Interior light
Exterior

Well as you can see theres a fair amount of mods. All the VW GLI parts are EXTREMELY rare and expensive. They are only available from America where the Jetta 20th Anniversary GLI was sold - similar to the 25th Anniversary Golf over here.

Overall the exterior is in excellent condition with a few points to note - there is a small "pinhole" dint in the OSR door and there is a very minor scuff on the rear bumper both were there when I bought it but have not bothered me as can only be seen when looking. There is also a small dint on the NSF arch which should easily pull out. This happened a few weeks ago when parked at University (This is the main reason I'm not taking it with me as I cannot bear it to get damaged). Obviously inline with its age there are a few scratches but does look fantastic when clean and I personally feel its the best colour in the MK4 range. Overall the car looks fantastic and I'm sure anyone that has seen it will couch for it.

Interior

The interior is very nice with the heated cream leather and climate control. Everything works fine and is nice and clean - I dont smoke and neither did the previous owner! The seats are excellent with very very little wear and have been treated to Autoglym leather cleaner/conditioner every month. It has two sets of mats, cream VW mats which I use for shows and then black overmats. The Anniversary clocks look much better and has a lovely ambience at night with the clocks and W8 light.

Engine

The engine is totally standard and has not been fiddled with at all. All runs smoothly, starts first time everytime. Has mainly been used on the current 40 trip to Uni not around town. It has a camchain so will never need cambelt changes liek most. Pulls cleanly and smoothly as you would expect with the mileage.

Chassis

As said the car is on Weitec coilovers. Its currently down 70mm but can go about 30mm lower if you wish. I have NEVER had any rubbing from the wheels and for me its at an ideal height for daily driving. It gets over most speedbumps without any trouble and the sump/subframe etc has never hit the floor so no damage. The TT arb goes under the driveshaft so no rubbing, The Neuspeed rear ARB makes the handling fantastic and really does give people a shock when they see a Bora on rails. Brakes are excellent and were a great improvement over the standard 288's. Plenty of life left in them as the front discs were near new and the rest little use. The wheels are in very good condition with NO kerbing. Theres a few stonechips on them and the OSR wheels has a chip out of the paint when removing a centre cap. They were refurbed when I bought them in a slight grey colour so not the usual corrosion of Anni wheels.

Well sorry for the essay so here's a few pictures:

Just a few other bits I have thought of -

- The car has had auto locking (all doors lock over 10mph), auto windows (press and hold lock or unlock on the remote key and all windows go up or down and alarm beep where the alarm beeps when the car is locked. This was all enabled when the clocks were fitted using VAGCOM.

- The car was VAGCOM scanned when the Anniversary clocks were fitted and came up with NO faults.

- The climate control fans have been checked and are working fine - its a common fault for them to fail but mine work fine - off when no climate is on or set to ECON, slow speed when AUTO is set and then both low / high speed when the car get hot. And it has been awesome in the recent hot weather. Its ICE COLD!

- I have all the owners documents and wallet. Also have 2 x remote flip key (1 spare) and the plastic key which is needed to get spares cut. I have the radio code aswell.

- The car is currently delocked but I have the two key barrells if you would prefer to put them back in.
