Welcome!
What you've bought is a 9n3 (Mk7, meaning this is the wrong sub-forum, but never mind

nothings different apart from the fron end). There is no 9n2 in the UK. 9n2 = 9n + boot. Hideous looking thing...like this:
I wouldn't bother trying to squeeze any more power out of it. Which 1.2 has it got the 6v 55 BHP or the 12v 65 BHP engine? A panel filter will set you back £30 at least and won't really offer any noticable improvement (2 BHP
tops, which is within the error allowance of a dyno) on a naturally aspirated car. Also, if you really insist on one, get a green cotton filter rather than a K&N - The latter have been known to fuxxor up MAFs...I've had no experience of this, but that's what I've heard among the diesel community anyway.
I haven't actually seen any company list a remap for the 1.2, but have a look at these lists to see what a remap can do for a small N/A petrol engine

5 BHP gain tops and that'll set you back £250ish. Not worth it I reckon. Having said that, a remap will give you a "much greater" performance increase than a filter will...the only problem is in this case it's ~4-5 BHP vs 0-2 BHP. I'd just leave it as it is...unfortunately, it's hard to get much out of small naturally aspirated engines without spending a lot. The usual route on an N/A enine is intake mods, exhaust manifold, camshafts, valves. Whilst these are common mods on the likes Mk1/2 Golf GTIs, I doubt aftermarket parts even exist for the 1.2 Polo
I'd say wait till you get your next car or save up for a 1.8T transplant.
