Picked up my UK-legal pressed plates at Ultimate Dubs. Also got some plate surrounds but I'm not convinced by them and am seriously thinking about selling them on!

So the question is, to use numberplate sticky pads or to drill them?

EDIT: surrounds sold!

Sticky pads. Drilled plates look nasty in opinion!

Sticky pads for sure. Get foam tape from B&Q, that stuff is great for sticking numberplates.

Totally agree with selling the surrounds on, never been a fan of them on any car myself!

Pressed Plates look so much better to be fair, a great simple improvement.

I agree with Tim & Alex reference the sticky pads, look much better. Got any pics of the surrounds???

Think I might be suffering from that "seven-year itch" business. Seriously considering selling the Polo this summer to go after a new project...... having said that, I thought about selling up several times but its not yet happened!

Cheaper options include the Fabia vRS TDi or an older Golf such as a classic mk2. More costly options on the table are the mk5 Golf (either TDi 140bhp or petrol GTi), mk4 Golf .:R32 or perhaps a Leon Cupra R.

The left-field option is that I know a guy who is selling his Honda S2000 in the next few months...

What I might do is pick up a cheap but solid/dependable VW runabout for a few hundred quid to give me a few months to decide on the right car.

I think we all get the itch from time to time but the best cure is normally to buy something new for the car.

You have listed some nice cars below as possible replacements but I think you might be disapointed changing from Petrol to Diesel. Modern diesels are really fun & quick but like all TDI's they just dont seem to feel that fast when your behind the wheel. Just as they feel like their picking up speed you then have to change gear. Great MPG & Torque but not as much fun as a high reving petrol.

The MK4 Golf R32's are gorgeous, that would be a brilliant replacement for the Polo.

Good luck with the Hunt but hopefully you will keep the Polo :)

Totally up to you man, this has come around a few times! But no doubt you'll make the right decision. I like the sound of a Fabia vRS or mk2 Golf!

The more I think about it, the more I know I don't need a diesel, as I don't do the mileage to warrant one. R32 is top of the "want" list, just need to do some research on running costs, MPG, that sort of stuff. Don't want to leave the VW scene so the Honda is out of the question

Mk4 or Mk5 R32? The mk4 is cheaper but the newest ones are 6 years old. The mk5 is better looking in my eyes (with the exception of the wheels) and is surprisingly affordable (for a 2006/07 car). Not much of a premium over a mk5 GTi to be honest. All it needs is a set of BBS CH and some coilies

MK4 R32 over a MK5 any day! They look soooooooo much better. With some CH's and dropped it looks the bees knees.

Please don't get a MK5 Si. Or I will come after you. :)
