Re: new GTi owner
No Worries mate,
Yeah De-badging is really popular on here, like you say debadge the Polo and just move the GTI further up.
Has it had the cambelt tensioners changed as well or just two cambelt changes?
You should get decent money for the wheels if you decide to sell them, if your after a set of standard BBS 15" RXII wheels then let me know, I will have a freshly refurbed set for sale next month.

Re: Andy's GTI
update time, been doing uni work all morning so brain is a little fried...

Sanded down front splitter and gave it a coat of back to black, its not quite smooth as i want it by at least bits of fur wont get stuck on it anymore

Took front wheel off, in hoping to a test fit on the brocks however i dont have the thing (cant think of name) to get the adaptors off, so that halted that plan, gave all the calipers a good clean and now they look more pink than red so think that a respray will be in order shortly.

Gave the back badge some love, can you spot the tractor hiding in the pic lol
Had a good look and it seems like the polo and GTI badge at the back are stuck on with the sticky pad things so hopefully wont be too much of a problem to get off, will do it when i get some tar remover. Hopefully before i kill me self from this assignment
thanks

Re: Andy's GTI
The badges really arn't too hard to get off, just don't use a screw driver or anything sharp! a credit card or similar works a treat for gently levering it upwards. As for painting calipers, grab yourself some tinned halfords high temperature paint, amazing stuff and after 2-3 coats looks pukka! heres what mine looked like after i did them :

Re: Andy's GTI
did you take them off completley or do it while they were on?

Re: Andy's GTI
I did them while they were on, alot easier than taking them off and having to re-bleed the brakes!
Re: Andy's GTI
right thanks mate ill add that to the shopping list when the student loan comes through. I still cant work out what i need to get the adaptors off lol

Re: Andy's GTI
quick 15 minute job today - flushed door pins.
Before

During

After

First one took a while as it was mainly trial and error on how much to cut, by the end of it there was about a 1/4 of the thread left on it. got some nice blisters on me fingers from all the screwing lol.
Sneaky one

Re: Andy's GTI
Nice progress dude.
Loving the teledials. Coilovers and some girthier adaptors would have it sitting perfect!
I agree with the rear badges, get em off completely

Re: Andy's GTI - ive ****ed it
to cut a long story short (moderate irony intended)
went to put me brocks on today was talking to me mate whilst doing it had a pile of longer and shorter bolts grabbed a bolt tightened it. Went to turn the car round to do otherside so i was jacking it up on a flat surface, Crunch - turned out i put a longer bolt in and bent the ABS rotor when i moved the car.
Off to garage tomorrow to get it looked at its not going to be an enjoyable experience driving it there lol. Any one know rough price i would be looking to pay?

Oh dear.
Well thats a bit of a pig to change - depending on the damage, you may need a new complete hub assembly. Looking at at least £70 plus id say!

Re: Andy's GTI - ive ****ed it
Depends where you take it. Probably looking at 3 hours ish id have though on the grounds that none of the hub bolts are seized!
