Joe
No worries mate, nice one :)

I had my mongoose system delivered on Friday which is also twin 3" pipes so its nice to get an idea of how big it will look on the car.
Is yours a Cat back system or just a back box?

Looks good 8)

Yeah Joe my Mongoose is Cat back too :)

There are not many performance exhaust options available for the GTI unfortunately so its hard to find a nice one. I was hoping to get the twin 3" suspersprint cat back system but that is no longer available and I didnt like the Scorpion Back box options so I went for the Mongoose in the end.

Hopefully it will sound & look good, i'll get some pics of it up later on my progress thread.

Right It's been a while , I'll start off on a high note by saying it passed its MOT today. I haven't been up to a lot recentley, but seemed to encounter a few problems more than anything.

1) following 6k bulb change the head lights need switching on and off a dozen times before they come on....

2) the new proxes put on in feb have started wearing on the inside edge already :|

3) the eggy smell mentioned in another post

4) undertray flew off down the bypass- very embaressing but got it sorted

5) Intermitant ABS light is still haunting me

6) condensation in headlights dried out and has smeared them to death

Anyhelp with these would be appreciated!

That's about it! on to the goody stuff....

1) fitted something related to the outside of the car.. see if you can spot...

2) two new proxes

3) MOT pass

4) 6k bulbs.. if they worked properly...

5) new interior grab handles

and here are some pics from my weekend at Dubmania in Shropshire

motorway pic with my silly hat:

Now comes my NEED for spacers! my mate bought these there, 20mm, we put them on the rear and this it what it looked liked:

Without:

Plans over the next 2 months:

1) final paint correction- getting ready for a possible show n' shine appearence if i have enough time!

2) maybe sort out scratched to hell windscreen

3) sort problems listed at the top!headlights mainly

4) SPACERS!!! any reccomendations?

5) i am currentley in the process in doing doing a flip key.. so watch this space...

6) and a few other things that i will keep a surprise 8)

Enjoy!

Looks Great Joe, I really like what you have done so far 8)
I will be interested to see what you go for spacer wise, I am also considering getting some soon but i'm not too sure what to go for. Engine bay looks really good :) Nice to see you have kept the Engine cover too.

Have you had the car tracked recently? just you mentioned you got through a set of Toyo's pretty quickly, I had a similar problem a few months back due to negative camber and my tracking being out by 8mm.

The problem with the 6k bulbs is related to the bulbs. Where did you get them from? I had that problem with one of mine, and got a new set under warranty and all was well.

Cheers Ben! thinking of 20mm on the rear and 15mm on the front?

And yes have had it tracked, but i think the camber is still no quite right..

As for the bulbs, they are some cheap ones off the bay which Tim posted a link for a while ago.... i did contact the seller and they put it to the ballasts.. and i'll check the selector seal this week Alex and report back...
