We are new members... hello!
My husband drives an '02 Polo TDi Sport in black. A great car we have had from new. Low miles, totally reliable and great on fuel.
My son is 17yrs in May and we were going to give him that car and so we bought my parents Volvo estate from them (my Dad died so it helped Mum out too). Anyway we put the car details in some comparison sites for insurance (had to use a false DoB as you can only get quotes a month before the birthday!) and it came out at £6,500!!!!!!!!! Double what the car value is...
So we had a re-think and my son has been looking at all manner of small hatches for months. He has set his heart on... wait for it... a POLO Gti from around year 2000. Give me strength, he likes Polos too!
So my questions are:
* Has anyone any idea how the GTi from roughly that year compares to the TDi Sport on insurance?
* Has anyone paid for a son to have Gti insurance (not on parent's policy) and what was cost?
* Has anyone set up a family multi car policy and found this better on £ compared to 3 separate policies that we will need?
(Does anyone know someone who is looking for a Volvo V70, '51 plate, Silver, approx 80k miles, vgc and my Dad is the only owner before us? It might help us pay for the GTi insurance now and as my hubby now wants to keep his TDi...)
Here's hoping and thanks!
KR
Jules
