Sachs Clutch Feel?

Post by joe2612 »

Hi Guys,

Loooking to change my Clutch pretty soon.. I know the sachs kit is recommended on here. Just wondering how it feels once its changed? i.e is it soft, hard? do you get that kickback when changing quickly at high revs or is it sluggish ?

Appreciate the responses 8)

Just got my sach clutch installed last week, must admit it feels really light in comparison to the original.
It feels good but mine has a funny bite so getting the gear changes spot on takes time to get used to.

I wouldnt say "yes deffo get one its miles better" but if your clutch does need changing then its certainly worth getting one, for £110 they are well priced too.

Well it can't feel any worse than my current one... but then again i don't want a clutch that doesnt' engage quick enough during gear changes

Not slipping, but the bite point is right at the very top, you barely need to depress the pedal to change gear.

It also judders when moving away, unless you give it plently of welly and feed the clutch in quickly. It also sometimes takes a few attempts to get it into first every now and then..

Sounds like its on its way out then, when mine was changed the bloke at the garage said my original was screwed.

Your symptoms sound very similar, although mine was very noisy when changing gear too

Yeah, as far as i'm aware its on the original @ 81K.

I'll do the clutch myself, just need to decide on the one to go for :?

Either go for a VW replacement or get a Sach kit, both are decent quality and will last a fair few miles :)
