For F^$K's Sake

Post by dantheram »

I'm stuck again!

My sodding rear caliper pistons wont wind in! I'm winding (clockwise) them whilst applying force and the gap just wont grow, so i cannot put my new pads in.

What am i doing wrong here?

If that doesnt work, you can just disconnect the caliper. Then you just have to re-bleed it, but thats the worse case scenario. (and even then, its not THAT bad :))

Went to a local garage and they lent me their wind back tool, dont think you can use a g-clamp as you have to turn it whilst applying force.

I don't think the calliper piston is threaded, therefore there is no need to screw,it just helps overcome the piston seal making it easier to push/pull...

correct, i think its the golfs etc have a thread so a caliper rewind tool is needed, these are just a solid piston if i remember correctly! but a G-Clamp has worked everytime on all of my polos
