RCD 510 & 9wZ Bluetooth

Post by bowcaps »

Today I received a 9wz bluetooth kit from the spanish guy "BlueWagon", having stripped out the RCD 510 and interior light assy I patched in the module with the supplied leads, but for the life of me could not get any phone or laptop to detect bluetooth in the car.

The phone kit was recognised in the RCD 510, but all the options in telephone set up were "greyed out", save for the factory reset.

VCDS reported no faults, recognised the module straight away, so no faults there.

Any ideas? Or has any one fitted this module (5N0 035 730 D) to a 6R with RCD 510 and had no problems?

Am not 100% Sure mate, but am sure theres an option in VCDS to enable the bluetooth module. Just have a check if youve got VCDS.

I contacted the vedor "BlueWagen" in Spain, he informed me the 9wZ only works on highline (GTI Polo 6R) as the module has to detect the phone not the phone detect the module.

He is despatching a 9w7 module which is compatible with the Polo 6R's

I have now installed the 9w7 unit, although the bluetooth module had to be installed at the back of the drivers chair as it would not fit at the front of the drivers chair.

It works really well, it's just a shame it's not an option in the UK, I can't think why VW would notr allow it to the UK market?

The kit (complete with harness & VW discreet mic) was £175

If you do a search on Ebay for "Bluewagen", he is based in Barcelona

Will this work with the RNS 310?

I fitted the bluetooth box in the passenger footwell. Behind the A pillar trim (where the little cubby hole is for a reflective jacket), there is a double skin to the outer and inner body shell assembly, with a hole just the right size to fit the bluetooth box in. I covered the box in foam to stop rattles and pushedit in (quite a snug fit).

Did this on the wifes car the day she got it 3 months ago, and it's been working perfectly ever since. Made the install much easier as I didn't have to remove the sill trims or seat.

My Polo GTI arrives next week, and I think I may have made a mistake in asking the dealer to fit the VW Touch Bluetooth kit

I am planning to get an RNS 510 satnav. What do you think my options are? Are the mic cables likely to be compatible with the 9W7 box?

There are two mic holders between the internal lights, the RDS 510 has similar voice control as the RCD510 quite easy to fit as the 9wz / 9w7 comes with a genuine VW mic

OK, I got an RNS 510 and bluetooth fitted by HazzyDayz and it's great.

One small problem; the bluetooth 'hijacks' the Midline MFD display and will only show either phone information or navigation arrows if the satnav is active. I can't get to the normal MFD displays.

Any ideas?
