My ray bans came the other day, and they're too big to go into my sunglasses holder
Laith's Progress Thread :)
Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
God damnit, Im waiting for my student loans to come through before spending more £££ on the polo. Next on the list is to sort out all the damn scratches and scruffs on the bodywork. Then, Im gonna either get a new set of tyres (to stop scrubbage), as my back has still got some life in it before I upgrade to a better set of coilies

Hopefully student loans should pop in next week. Quick query, since my car is lowered and it just scrapes on the tyres, and I dont really want to raise it up, would getting 165/50/15 tyres do the trick? I'm running on Lensos (I'm sure they're 7j?). Been looking at some potenzas that come in at £44 ea. delivered.

Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Yeah stretched tyres should do the job mate and give you a little more clearance on the arches.
What are you running at the moment 195/45/R15's?

Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Yep thats right. I just hate that the tyres keep scraping at every bump and pothole, nevermind going round corners 'enthusiastically'

165/50's should do the trick or 165/45's if you can source a setTrunkz wrote:Yep thats right. I just hate that the tyres keep scraping at every bump and pothole, nevermind going round corners 'enthusiastically'

I can get either 165/45/15 Nankangs or 165/50/15 Bridgestones. Roughly same price, but I hear bridgestones are better tyres overall

I would go for the Bridgestones mate, better quality tyre and will last longer

Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Bridgestone all the way mate, mine were a bugger to fit as the side wall is SO hard but that's what you want really...... Bead blaster is needed to fit them tho...
Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Agreed, bridgestones all the way.
Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Alright, bridgestones it is. Ummm, bead blaster? I take it most tyre places wont stretch tyres

Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
No mate, tyremart etc won't touch them. The smaller places will even they have a bead blaster.... Look on google for local bead blaster fitters... Some might pop up....
Re: Laith's Progress Thread :)
Fitted a brand new sachs clutch last week, and the car runs like a beauty now. Alternator died on me a few days ago (probably from the shock that the car is behaving like a gti now), and I picked one up from one of the guys on club-polo. Fitted it in, and need to take it out tomorow to push back one of the bushes in the alternator to have it fit properly. Also, gonna get that damn EGR pipe on the manifold removed, as its serving no purpose and was a b***h to get the alternator with. I know this is ment to be a picture-filled progress thread, but you guys are gonna have to bear with me for the moment
Loans are taking their sweet time arriving as well..
Plans for the car:
1. Sort out the anti-dazzle mirror & rain-sensor to OE+ specs. (not some shoddy retro fit like some others)
2. Wire up the front mk3 golf leathers to get the heated function working. (Won the two relays required for em on the bay a while back)
3. Stretched tyres / arch rolling. (Might move to a thicker profile if going the new tyre route)
4. Get a better set of coilies. (if anyone wants to get rid of their kWs * cough *)
5. ITBs coupled with a remap, and a rear ARB to tie things up nicely.
Edit #
Screw it.. Here's a few pics of whats happened over the last few months..

Lazzyyy..

Found this old beauty in my uncle's garage from his Mk1 Golf days..

My mate cursing his way trying to get a bolt off.. Moments later, I took it off within seconds
