Knocking noise from o/s front wheel.

As the post says, knocking noise from the o/s front wheel just started yesterday, almost like a calper is loose or something, can feel it through the pedal. I've had a good poke about and can't find anything loose or broken. Plus when the car's up on the jack there's no knocking Very frustrating, I'm thinking perhaps a CV joint, there's no play in the bearing and the caliper/pads are all secure, the knocking seems to be worse when going round a left hand bend, and seems to get really bad when 'coasting' in gear, eg the power is off, I'm kinda stumped so she's off the VW on wednesday to see if they can locate the problem. No doubt it'll be something REALLY expensive lol

What I was wondering is have any of you guys had a similar issue?

I had a knocking noise when tuning left a few months back. I do believe it turned out to be the CV joint. But when I changed that I also got lots of other things done, so I can't say 110% that that fixed it, but I remember the techs being pretty sure that was the cause.

Yeah I'm kinda leaning towards the CV joint being gubbed, I notice the lower ball joint on the wishbone on same side was looking a bit hard up so I'm going to get that done at the same time, we'll see what happens on Wed, cheers!

mine is doing the same and had it come back as CV joint from a few places.

Nightmare Bradley! Hopefully this is all that's wrong with mine for just now, although I realise I'm tempting fate by saying that!

The knocking has now disappeared, had the car at work today, myself and 2 other Ag mechanics couldn't find anything wrong with it, no noise driving into work, or running it 25 miles to my local VW garage and back. So I'm thinking maybe a pad was rattling or something, we will watch this space......
