heres a picture under the car standard-

Basically it's a resonater box which is also known in real world as a silencer
so after searching around the net abit more I found people were just cutting them out on the edge of the box near the weld like this -

this is more or less ruining the full exhaust system as you won't be able to put it back on in the future, for me that wasn't a option.
I wanted a way of cutting it in a place where I can re-fit my old box and clamp it with a small exhaust sleeve keeping it OEM, so i went a bit further down the exhaust after the bend where there is about 8'' of straight pipe,
which is here -

so after I cut it i had the box on the floor this will give you a idea of what i did. (undo one clamp, cut the other bit) -

it was time to fabricate the new piece I wanted it to make it with mounts to go on the original rubbers so it won't bang, and out stainless steel so it wouldn't rust this is what I ended up with, a exact replicer of the old box, but with out the box -

It fits perfectly and gives the car a excellent but OEM (not chavy) sound, when you change gear you hear the "DSG blip" but much louder, it really is a excellant mod for the money, and best is you can always change it back when you come to sell the car. here are the final pics -

I don't want to sound like im selling things this is more of a HOW TO thread, I can provide and fit the part as I'm a vw specialist if you don't have a ramp or exhaust cutter, just drop me a pm I'll see if I can help. hope this helps anyone hoping to do this.
