Brake pedal

Post by morrismen »

Prash wrote:well, the car drives much better it seems, no problems with the dash or anything, the clutch is nice and tightened up and easy to depress. The only thing is they've had to change the brake pedal apparently, this is what they broke when they were doing the safety recall, I've got a whole new brake pedal, any1 else had this too ?
As per my previous note above, I think my brake pedal is now problematic as it's sticking which leaves the brakes on. It over heated my front pads and discs yesterday.

The VW dealer has it today to find out what's happened to it. :(

Did your brake pedal bust or is it the same problem as mine above?

Is there anybody out there who is still waiting for the pedal clips to come in stock like myself ? ..... I'll have had my loan car for two weeks tomorrow and my dealer says they are still waiting for the clip to come in on back-order.

I noticed a couple of you say your cars had finally been done but wondered if your dealer was waiting for the same part as my car needs.

Cheers

My brake pedal was fine before it went in for the recall, I think they 'broke' a clip somewhere in the brake assembly and thats the extra thing I got replaced, its fine now, a little stiff when pressed hard but i'm sure that'll ease after some miles

Waveydavey, mine still in at the dealers, been a week now, been chasing them up every day and even rang the Customer Services to complain and it didn't seem like they gave a poo about it!

Got the part number, may give Martyn at VAG-parts a call to see if he can have any luck...

The Clips Are In

Post by mkone »

Apparently the long awaited clips are in (according my VW dealer). Got a phone call today telling me to re-book the car in for early next week.

Spoke to the dealer again today. They said they were aware that the clips were starting to filter through to dealers and it was now just a case of waiting for my dealers order to get to the front of the queue.

I did mention that my car was booked to have it's wheels re-furb'd in two weeks and that if they still had the car that i would need them to take the wheels off for me to then bring them back a couple of days later. They said that they would hope they didn't have my car in two weeks....Which is a good sign i suppose.

Still in the loan car?

Post by morrismen »

Anyone still in their loan car awaiting the pedal box clips? Thought so. :?

I think I have become a victim of this too now... since my last post when I took the GTI back in due to a sticking brake pedal, the VW Dealer has continued to hold my car awaiting parts on back order. Crap it.

I thought that a morning and an afternoon to fit it all was too quick.

I've now been without my car a total of 8 days due to this pedal box refit.

Anyone got the VW customer service number - the 0800 one on the letter? I left mine in the car me thinks...

I want to add my frustration to the many other customers who have apparently called them about this recall. Ta. :)

morrismen i've now been in the Lupo loan car for 3 full weeks!!!!!

The nearest i've got to an idea of how long it was going to be was on two occasions.....

When i picked up the loan car on the day my car was booked in they said it could be anything from 2 days to 1 month!!!

Last week when i called to check about the clips the dealer acknowledged that the clips were starting to come through but they were waiting for their order to get to the front of the queue. When i told them i needed my alloys so i could take them to be refurbished on the 4th August they said that they hoped they wouldn't have the car by then. I'm on nights at the mo but i'm gonna call them again on Friday to sort out getting the wheels taken of early next week. And to ask about a possible time scale again.

Cheers

Customer Service

Post by morrismen »

waveydavey, I'd call VW Customer Service about this. It really is not acceptable to have to wait that long.... The more people that call them, the better it should be for us VW owners in the future, and perhaps next time they'll get it right.

Called VW customer services today and they weren't much help..... Told them about the fact that i had now been waiting 3 weeks with my car in the dealers and all they could do was apologise for the amount of time it was taking and that they knew the clips were on back order and that people were being messed around!!!!

Fat lot of good that will do us all............... Anyway i asked for the address to write to for complaints and she gave the following details............................................................

VW UK,
Yeomans Drive,
Blakelands,
Milton Keynes,
Bucks,
MK14 5AN.

I can feel me a letter coming on..................

Cheers

Good news at last!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just been in to the dealers and the clips have finally arrived. They are doing the work next Wednesday....Which is when my wheels are being Refurb'd so i'm taking the wheels back in the next day and they will pop 'em back on then i can finally drive the car away........It'll be exactly 4 weeks to the day on Thursday when i pick up the car.

Cheers

Which VW garage is your car at. If it's Hillsborough i should be getting a phone call soon.

I might give them a ring anyway.
